Great Protection for Outdoor Furniture
This Scotchgard Sun and Water Shield works great on my patio furniture. It repels water effectively and helps protect against the elements. There’s no residue or discoloration after applying, and it sprays evenly without foaming. The finish looks clean and natural, which I really like. Overall, a high-quality product that’s easy to use and does exactly what it’s supposed to do. I would definitely recommend it.

Long time Scotchguard user
I've bought some more expensive sneakers lately and I need them to last. Only one pair is machine washable so I thought I'd try this Scotchguard spray. One bottle did 6 pairs of shoes with multiple soaking sprays. It didn't affect the appearance of any of my shoes. Spray nozzle sprays evenly and gives a nice, heavy ,somewhat soak to my sneakers. It depends on how much you want to apply is my point. If you want heavy then apply heavy, if you want a light covering it works very well at light sprays also. I hike dusty, dirt trails with my dog and I need my sneakers to be water repellent with morning dew, or wet grass after rain. Ivalso need it to repel the dust from the trails. So far, so good. It is not odorless. There is a chemical smell during and after spraying. Even after it dried a few days later there is still the chemical smell, BUT, I have to press my nose up gmagainst the fabric to smell it, otherwise it is not noticeable. My neighbors probably thought I was weird because I kept checking for the chemical smell after I sprayed, and intermittently while drying....lol. You ABSOLUTELY have to spray outdoors or in a very well ventilated area and not in a basement near furnaces, please! The fumes ARE flammable, says so on the can. Scotchguard is a very reputable brand and I'll keep using their sprays. I've used their furniture guard spray and it works extremely well also.

Works On All Fabrics, Even Outdoor Gear and Tents
I know the ingredients are formulated mainly to resist stains, but I use it on a tent rain fly. I like ceiling the seams and then spraying it with Scotchgard. It's gentle enough that it doesn't hurt the material, and it's super easy to apply. You can tell from the photos I took that it dries completely. I took up before photo and then after photo to show what it looks like dried. It doesn't change the appearance of the fabric at all. I had enough left over to treat a couple of chairs on the deck, and the cushions stay pretty dry too. Scotchgard is famously effective, and that was my experience with it treating my outdoor and rain gear.

Shields my BBQ cover from rain
Good product, does what it’s supposed to, only doesn’t get 5 stars because it didn’t cover as much as advertised; maybe I applied it too liberally. Anyway, works great.

Reliable and Easy Way to Protect Fabrics from Water and Stains
Scotchgard Fabric Water Shield is a lifesaver when you have kids and pets to help keep clothing and household fabrics safe from spills and light rain. The spray applies evenly and dries quickly, leaving fabrics water-repellent without altering their texture or color. It can be used it on jackets, cushions, and even outdoor pillows, and it really helps liquids bead up instead of soaking in. The two-pack is excellent for stocking up or treating multiple items at once, which makes it very convenient. I also appreciate that the protection lasts for a long time, so I don’t have to reapply constantly. Overall, it’s an easy, effective way to extend the life of fabrics while keeping them looking clean and fresh.

Great product
Great product cleans very well. I had spots and many stains all over my carpet and it took everything up with ease. I am very pleased. It looks like I had my carpet cleaned and it was just spot treated. I would definitely recommend this and it’s a great product for the prize.

Great All-Around Waterproof Spray
So, I have used a variety of waterproofing products before -- mainly for the purpose of treating coats, boots, and camping material. One thing to always look for in any waterproofing product is a statement of intended use. Scotchgard heavy duty water shield is a good all-around product for re-waterproofing or providing additional waterproofing protection for materials and products already designed to protect from the elements. Examples include certain types of leather, nylon, polyester, etc. This product will not magically waterproof porous or water absorbent material. Case in point, I read that someone was disappointed with the product because they tried to waterproof their pillowcase and was shocked when it didnt. Couple thoughts on that...if you're in a situation where your pillowcase and/or other gear is getting soaked, it's likely that no amount of waterproofing is going to help you (e.g. a monsoon, falling in a river, lake, or stream, or a 40 day deluge (aka also see "The Flood" story in Genesis). Additionally, why would you want to lay your face on a product that is synthetically made to repel water and that has a poison control warning if ingested or sprayed in your eyes? Yeah...moving on. I most recently bought and used this product to re-waterproof a rainjacket/windbreaker I have owned for about two years and to help protect a new tent I bought a week ago. I used a total of four cans for an entire 6 person tent and jacket. The product took only a short amount of time to dry (was dry to the touch in about an hour or two...and I soaked my jacket and tent/rainfly with this stuff), and it was put to the test not but three to four hours after application. As with the many other times I have used this product, it worked beautifully. It literally poured down rain with wind gusts of 40 and 50 mph, complemented by lightning, thunder, and even a little hail thrown into the mix, for two days straight. Not a drop of water in my new tent, despite the ground being completely soaked and the appocoliptic torrent of rain that was dumped on me. And neither my tent, nor my jacket, were discolored or stained by the product. Now, as for cons, there are few. The product does need to be reapplied at least once yearly if being used on gear that is used on a fairly regular basis. I camp all four seasons, so my jackets, camp gear, and boots are genuinely put to the test; however, it's unreasonable to think that when you waterproof something that it will last forever. Also, there is a slight odor to the product when first applied, so be sure to apply in a safe, well-ventilated space. I usually apply outside or in my garage with the garage doors open. The odor is similar to WD-40, so oily mixed with a bit of manliness and can-do attitude. But what waterproof spray doesnt have some kind of chemical odor? The final verdict: when used the way it is intended to be used, Scotchgard Heavy Duty Water Shield works like a charm and will likely make your life a whole heck of a lot more comfortable for those occasions when staying dry means the difference between being comfortable or being cold, damp, and miserable. You will have to reapply at least once a year if your gear is being used regularly. There is an odor to the stuff, but wears off eventually...usually a few days or less if left to dry in a well-ventilated space. The product is definitely a value and worth the buy when comparing the low cost to the high reward of staying as dry as one possibly can in the elements. Cheers!

Could be better
I bought this to spray my biker gloves to keep keep them dry & keep cold air out. It did okay, but I think i expected a little better. Can't speak to cleaning since, why would I put it on to clean it off. Didn't see any skin irritation. Its not sticky, so thats good. Easy to use and apply.
