Love it
I was looking for a ceramic travel mug without a handle that I could use with the shoulder-strap-style drink (tumbler style) carrier/holder that we also purchased on Amazon. There were not many options for the style of carrier that fits this type of travel mug (most were for the huge ones) and there were not many options for ceramic travel mugs without handles, so the fact that the two items pair perfectly is delightful! Now I can tote coffee around with me (in a real ceramic "mug", not metal or plastic) when working in the garden. The lid is good quality and easy to use and clean, not the lightest weight, not the heaviest weight, but midrange. I'm very happy with the mug, the lid and the sleeve. The cup/mug is well made, no chemical smells, no flaws of any kind, came with a tag (seems like a real ello product) and is good quality, looks exactly as shown in photo. If I had found it locally and felt and seen the quality I would have definitely still purchased. (Not that this cup is around here) The return policy made me feel confident, in case it was cheap or arrived broken. But it's good and arrived perfectly. The quality is better than expected, as hoped for. It compares to what one might expect to find in a place where they have good quality kitchen wares. The only thing I would change about this ceramic travel mug is (nothing except) that it would be for it to be available in more color options. :-) If they made it in true green, I would buy another. I got the purple one shown and it is as shown and looks nice. The combo of the ceramic with the grippy no-slip sleeve is pleasing. The grippy sleeve fits nicely and goes under the outside bottom edge of the cup so if you have it on a slippery surface it's okay. It's got grip. You can set it on top of your vehicle while putting groceries in and it stays fine. Plus, it won't scratch or scuff the surface it is set on. Since it is ceramic, I pop a basket style tea strainer in and make a one drink coffee in this without a coffee maker. Remove that, empty the grounds into the compost and delish coffee to go. The pastel colors make these especially good Spring and Easter gifts, just don't forget to fill with candy! haha It's looks nice and functions well. Very happy with this travel mug. Recommend.

Let's my coffee cool down - Yay!
I have to say right off the bat that I bought this mug specifically because ceramic doesn't keep the coffee boiling hot. I don't want to drink boiling hot coffee and I hate that the fancy stainless steel travel mugs keep the temp high forever. These allow the coffee to cool at a normal rate, like a normal cup, so you can drink it without burning your mouth. So, not for everyone but surely I'm not the only one who wants their coffee to get cold. It fits 2 cups of coffee. I think you can put it in the dishwasher but I never have. I don't know why you would need to. Just rinse it out. The design is pretty (love geometric stuff) and the sides are nice and grippy. The lid works fine. Not the best ever but also stays on and does its job. Overall, I love this mug.

Pretty good except two things
Overall it’s fine. It keeps coffee warm enough to drink 400ml through around an hour. Aesthetics are good. Quality seems good. It there are two things that bug me. The lid traps coffee inside it and you need to really wash it to get it out. Hand washing is OK but not great. The dishwasher is necessary. Just make it a one-piece design and make it easier. It doesn’t seal perfectly anyway, so you still have to treat the mug as though it’s open even if closed. Not a big deal, more just annoying. What’s much more annoying is the incredible amount of water that gets trapped between the sleeve and the mug in the dishwasher. This water, somehow, doesn’t run out during drying. It doesn’t run out when you take it out of the washer. It doesn’t run out when you set it on the counter. It doesn’t run out when you fill the mug with coffee. It’s doesn’t run out when you carry the thing into your car. It does, however, all run out when you take a sip of coffee while driving on the freeway on the way to work, leaving you with a very nice wet spot all over your lap. And it’s not a small amount or a couple of drips. It’s a couple of ounces of water which proceeds to dribble out bit by bit after you’ve thought to have gotten all of it. In all, the mug is ‘fine’ but with some irritating flaws. One thing you HAVE to know about it is to remove the sleeve after you’ve washed it or bear the consequences, an embarrassing wet spot on your pants as you walk into the office.

Love it
First off, this is not an insulating mug. This mug only keeps coffee piping hot for about 20 minutes and after 30 minutes it is lukewarm. But that is exactly what I want. I have a Yeti-style double wall vacuum insulated mug that keeps coffee piping hot for an hour and a half and I love it too. But sometimes I don't have an hour and a half to drink my coffee and with that mug if I try to finish off the coffee any faster I just burn my throat. So this Ello mug is perfect. I was using an old style Copco mug which also was good for 20-30 minutes. But they are made of plastic and after awhile those Copco lids leak. The new ones tend to leak right out of the gate, so I ditched them. This Ello mug is really nice and I'm sure the ceramic is healthier than plastic..

Not A Great Purchase
The build quality is great. It's super sturdy and I prefer to drink out of porcelain. However, my drinks don't stay hot because the lid does not fasten tightly to the cup. This also makes for spills. The liquid will definitely spill out if tilted. Why??????? All in all, it's just a coffee cup and I'm not going to return it. If I had it to do over again, I would not have purchase it.

My new favorite mug
I've had all types of travel mugs. There's no question that if you're commuting and want something totally spill-proof or that will keep your beverage hot all day, you should just buy the Contigo West Loop. However, if you mostly drink your coffee or tea at your desk, if you'd actually like your beverage to cool down enough to drink within the first hour, if you'd like a mug that cleans easily and is 100% dishwasher safe, and you'd like the best taste possible, this is your new mug. It also happens to be beautiful to look at. I've tried the double-wall ceramic mugs and would recommend avoiding those. You drink from a silicone lid, not directly from the ceramic rim, and the double-walls make them too heavy, too fragile and they don't hold enough volume. My only criticism is that the lid should have a small vent hole in addition to the opening where you drink. I'm probably just going to drill my own. UPDATE: I still love this mug. However, I would like to note two things. First, if you're going to put it in the dishwasher, you might as well take the silicon sleeve off, first. The sleeve itself is 100% dishwasher safe, but water gets trapped between the sleeve and the mug, so you will need to take it off to let it dry properly. This isn't an issue for me as I mostly hand-wash. Which brings me to observation #2, which is that the lid for this mug is fantastic. The slider detaches and re-attaches very easily, so there's never any cruddy buildup.

I Wish I Got an STD Rather Than This Mug!!!
This mug is one of the worst experiences of my life, and I have seen illness, death, natural disaster, and poverty. When the mug arrived, I washed it. This did not change the fact that it smelled like the Chinese factory that mass produced it is also churning out benzine and insecticides. I filled it with filtered water, and put it in my purse. The lid was firmly secure, and the mug was never tipped more than five degrees from a right angle. This mug LEAKED from the seams, the sliding mechanism at the top, and especially from where slide tab intersects-it was like a garden hose was let loose on my body, my bag, and my car. I had no time to literally mop up the damage, so I had to sit through a meeting looking like I urinated all over myself for over an hour. When I got home, I spread out all my things from my purse, like my day planner and my notebook, like accordions so mildew wouldn't fester. But still, all these things are warped and the ink has run. But wait, the SUCK MUG wasn't through ruining my month. The silicone housing is carefully designed so that water is trapped within its many labyrinthine protuberances and folds, so when I tipped it over to drink from it, it also attacked my laptop and the clothes I'd changed into. Nicely played, Hell-o. As others have pointed out, the Ello mug is heavy as a brick, and of course you don't want to put it in a cup holder or bag as it will turn into a property-destroying geyser of water or coffee. It doesn't insulate worth a d**m, and within thirty minutes all of the ice is melted, or conversely, the coffee is lukewarm. However, your coffee will give you second degree burns before this happens. I know this is subjective, but the suck mug is also hideous. It looks like 70's paneling. Others have noted that the mug will spontaneously break. I haven't experienced this yet, but I am sure that is the next unpleasant surprise-clay made of floor sweepings, cremains, and heavy metals sending explosive "pottery" shards into my chest and neck. Ello should send a mass shipment of these mugs to ISIS, after which they will all die of frustration, dehydration, and mold inhalation. I spent three hours looking for a mug that didn't taste like metal or plastic that I could put my hand into all the way to the bottom for through hand cleaning, which apparently rivals the cancer moon jump in its lofty challenge to mankind.

It’s the only cup I use all day. No joke!
I’m giving a 5 star because I knew exactly what I was purchasing after researching for a new portable mug; That’s what this is: a mug that can be taken out of the home and helps keep liquid contained. It is not a thermos, so it will not keep the liquid hot for longer than 30 minutes and you cannot flip it upside down because the liquid will spill. You must heat the ceramic before you poor hot liquid to keep it heated for longer. The silicone feels comfortable to the hand and it makes for a great coaster. Because I like to sip water at night, I can use this without waking up my spouse since it will not make a clink sound on the table (huge point earner). The lid is easy to clean: it has a removable silicone ring and the sip door is also removable as is the sleeve (but I do not remove it often for a fear of stretching it out). The ceramic lip shape is comfortable. We both have one and we use it for cold liquids too. It must be held upright while traveling because again, it is not spillproof. It’s simply meant to be a mug with a lid that HELPS to contain the liquid- I can’t stress this enough. I’ve been using this for over a month. It’s easy to hold and it fits in my cars cup holder perfectly. I purchased this in gray color. One of the mugs came defective and the lid was not resting on the groove as it was made to so I exhanged it and the replacement arrived perfect. I love this Ello mug design!

Super pleased with this
The heft, the size, are both great. The silicone feels nice, the lid is one of the nicest lids (just a little small on the mouth-opening for me, but it's minor). It looks great, and survives modern appliances which is a great feature.

Great ceramic mug!
This is a great mug. I hate the taste of stainless steel but wanted a travel mug and this ceramic mug is the best. It’s a great size, sturdy. The sleeve has a good grip and helps keep the coffee warm. I definitely recommend this mug!!
