Ok, bought this to replace a broken trigger switch on a Dyson V11 cordless vacuum. Given the number of videos online this appears to be a fairly standard fault & not what you would expect from such an expensive machine. This replacement switch claims to be ‘extra strong’ and there is a marginal difference in the thickness of the plastic & it appears to flex in a similar way to the original, so time will tell if it lives up to the claim. Disassembly, replacement & re-assembly took around 45 minutes following one of the videos on YouTube & the item was a perfect fit and the vacuum now works properly again. Fitting is a little fiddly with the main issue being the cabling & routing of wires, but overall a relatively straightforward procedure. For info. I also bought a Rolson 59133 4pc Pick & Hook Set at the same time to help with the wiring. Something which would have set my mind at ease a little sooner was that it’s difficult to see how the switch can work as it appears to be in the ‘on’ position when you put it back together, however, the mechanism becomes clear when you re-insert the battery pack 😉😂

It was a right pain swapping this out on my Dyson V11 Absolute. Its quite a task taking the Dyson apart but this fitted as expected and seems to be of good quality. Its been just over 8 months since i installed this and it seems to be working perfectly.

Fiddly to fit, but works a treat

Dyson cordless had stopped working and could see it was the trigger. After a quick google online found out the part was replaceable so me and my husband decided to save some money and try replace ourselves. We followed YouTube video and the replacement part fitted perfectly and we now have a working hoover again.

This is not a simple thing to fit. It involves taking the whole machine apart including removing delicate plugs from the circuit board and circuit board removal, bending of two brackets to straighten them in order to remove the circuit board and re-bending them again into place when refitting. Fortunately, my husband is a mechanic but he found it fiddly and we followed a couple of videos. Once you've done it once it would be relatively easy next time. You will need a torque screw driver (with the star head) for the some of the screws within. If you are patient, follow the videos, get the correct tools before starting and are careful it can be done. While our machine was apart we fully cleaned it and blew it all out so it working very well.

Our refurb Dyson V10 crapped out after 2 years. I had noticed that the trigger was intermittently failing until one day the vacuum wouldn't turn on at all. Small amount of research led me to this solution. It is amazing how much work it took to get to the trigger of the Dyson. Lo and behold, the oem plastic trigger had broken in two. This new trigger was a direct replacement and while its also plastic, it seemed to be a better design. No issues yet and I think it's been another 2 years. I felt very smart doing this repair and you can too. Lol.

This trigger is a superior replacement to the original Dyson switch for many Dyson vacs. The original trigger only lasted about two years before it broke. I tried other triggers as replacements, but they broke quickly and were junk. I bought one of these triggers and it lasted for four or five years before finally breaking. I just bought this trigger again and installed it in my Dyson and it works great Because of the design of the Dyson VAC, the trigger will break overtime, no matter what but at least this trigger lasts a lot longer than the original. You can find good videos on YouTube for how to replace your trigger in your Dyson vac. It’s not that hard to replace. You just have to have the right kind of screwdrivers and a pair of needle nose pliers.
