Excellent choice!
This manual bread slicer is a beast—heavy and a bit bulky—but it’s built like a tank and works beautifully. The crank is smooth, and the slices come out perfectly even every time. I love that it has multiple thickness settings, so I can go from thin sandwich slices to thick artisan pieces. Definitely takes up some space, but if you bake or slice bread regularly, it’s worth every inch.

Perfect slices done easy
My husband’s one complaint about my bread is that I was cutting slices too thick. To be honest, I did not have high hopes that this bread slicer would be effective, but I was wrong. It worked really well and pretty easily, my slices came out perfect. The suction on the base worked well. It’s very easy to clean and it’s not too big although I would not leave it on my counter. I’m very happy with this purchase and I’ve used it several times already.

Game changer for cutting sourdough bread
This is a game changer for me cutting my home made sourdough bread. I struggled to cut the loaf even with an electric knife. Using the Zassenhaus took literally 2 minutes to cut the entire loaf. Love it and would recommend it to anyone who struggles to cut sourdough bread. The cuts were consistent and not too thick of course totally adjustable. The slicer is made of metal/steel no plastic so I expect it to last a very long time.

Good Slicer, But Slips, Slides, and Pricey
The Zassenhaus Original Classic Adjustable Bread Slicer works well and delivers consistent, even slices with adjustable thickness. However, at its price point—higher than many other models—it has a couple of noticeable design issues. First, the suction cups at the bottom don’t hold and the slicer tends to slip and slide, which is a safety concern when your hand is close to the blade. Real rubber feet would solve this problem and make it much safer. Second, the slicer lacks a guide to feed the bread forward, so the handle can catch on the loaf, slowing down the slicing process. Overall, the slicer performs well, but for a premium price, addressing the slipping issue and adding a bread guide would make it significantly safer and more user-friendly.

Such a great slicer!
My wife is all over this sourdough bread crazy and I'm glad she is because she's crushing it! This bread slicer is amazing, and exactly what we were looking for. Easy to use for the entire family and you can feel the quality. Well worth the price for quality.

Just a joy to use
If you make sourdough or other crusty bread get one of these if you can afford it. Like any other top quality single purpose tools you buy, you will only cry once. Get the version that has the little guide to hold the bread slice from falling to the right as you cut it and getting in the way of the crank handle. It’s a bit more expensive but worth avoiding the irritation of flicking each slice of bread out of the way Few people would say they really need one of these slicers, but it just works so well; it cuts perfect slices effortlessly even through the crustiest loaf. Any bread is easier to slice when it’s a day or two old but with this device you can slice it while it’s still warm from the oven. If the crumb of your bread is slightly gummy (perhaps because you are slicing it warm from the oven) a sticky residue may adhere to the blade but the blade detaches easily for washing. Leave the bread for a day or two if you want to avoid the stickiness. Of course you will also avoid the sumptuousness of butter melting into the still warm crumb of that first crusty slice. It anchors well to a smooth countertop - almost too well. While you can adjust the thickness, once you have found your preferred thickness you likely won’t change it. It takes up space but if you make two loaves at a time and slice them both at the same time you can keep it in a cupboard or drawer and bring it out when you need it. The folding left side of the base helps a bit with storage space constraints. If you have enough counter space leave it out and cut slices as you need them. Crumbs will chip off the crust as you slice. When you’re done tilt the slicer away from you and open the small detachable tray underneath. Brush the crumbs off and sweep them with your hand into a bag of breadcrumbs you might want to keep in your freezer. No more bread knives skating off the brittle crust on to my thumb. No more cutting grooves in my cutting boards as I saw my way through the bottom crust of each slice. No more squashing my loaf as I try to get the knife to cut through the top crust. Ok you could make non crusty bread but then what’s the point …

Perfecy slices, but annoying to secure to counter.
Great product and we have loved having perfectly sliced bread. but my only complaint it it has to suction cup to the counter. So you have to wipe off the suction cups and the counter everytime you want to use it. Then when you're done you have to pry it off the counter and I'm afraid one of these times the cups will rip.
