To Kill a Mockingbird: Reader's Guide on Video for the Harper Lee Novel

I rented this to view prior to purchasing, and was thankful I had done so. It has wonderful information, but I know wouldn't hold the attention span of my ninth graders.

This is a great breakdown and review of the book. Explains all characters and gives a quick synopsis of each chapter!!! Helped my daughter out beautifully.

Rented this video as a substitute for the real movie "To Kill a Mockingbird," which was not available for viewing. Tried to create an interest and understanding from the monotone narrator of this video about the movie, but gave up about 1/2 way through.

The reader's guide provided an excellent summary of each chapter and intelligent commentary on the story line and character development.

Just didn't personally find it valuable.

Disappointed. A bit boring, much like sitting in a high school lecture. There is a typo in the outline, says that Scout is Jem's brother, she is his sister. It does highlight each chapter of the book and gives you a brief synopsis of each character. PBS had a much better documentary on the author. The biography on Harper Lee, too short, not very much information. Some of the pictures used are a little goofy.

Content was great. Delivery not so much

This is good for what it is intended to do--teach TKAMB--but it offers no new insight to the book or the film.
