how soft are the shirts? Are they very stiff?

I would consider them soft. They are made of pretty light weight cotton material. You will definitely need to wear an undershirt with the shirt.

It will not shrink much at all if any. I order the white, pink, blue, red and black out of stretchable fabric, if it does you just pull and stretch it and it fits. The white shirts usually run big, I wear a Large, the black I go back and forth between xl and l. The red I cannot wear a L but the XL is a great fit. The blue and pink are usually the same as the black. Hope this helps. Make sure you understand what a Modern cut is, it is tapered and there is not a lot of forgiveness if you have a pot belly. I work out a lot and they fit perfectly. The sleeves are not quite as long as the classic. I wear a medium in a classic cut and can tuck a large if I need to. I would say get the size you think you need and then return if it is too small in the Modern cut and a size under in the Classic cut.

Is this shirt true to size?

The Cinch shirts tend to run a size bigger then most other brands. If you have worn Cinch before please order that size. Thanks!
