It is more than just hooking up the electricity. I also have some Minka lights that are wonderful. Unfortunately it's a physical switch on the fan.Remote - this would be the most frustrating part of the ceiling fan and why I took off a star. It's poorly designed and despite having an up and down light button they both do the same thing and rotates through the brightness so if you're trying to dim the light you might end up at full brightness first which is frustrating!Overall it's a high quality fan that i highly recommend.
