Celebrate 25 years of Priddy Books! Inspiring a love of learning in over 200 million babies, toddlers, and young children. Your little one will love to discover the amazing animals inside this bright, padded board book, First 100 Animals , part of the bestselling series from Priddy Books. With 100 color animal photographs to look at and talk about, and 100 animal names to read and learn, your little one will soon be able to recognize animals and say lots of new words. The pages are made from tough board for hours of fun reading, and the cover is softly padded for little hands to hold. Review: Great book - Great book for out grandkids Review: Great Quality, But a Bit Advanced for Younger Toddlers - We love the First 100 books — the photos are beautiful and durable (very important in toddler world). But this is a little less engaging for my 15-month-old than the First 100 Words book, which she’s already mastered. For example, there are many different kinds of birds, and to her, they’re all just “bird.” She still enjoys flipping through it, but I think it’ll shine more when she’s closer to 2+.

Fun toddler word/picture book
Absolutely love this book! It's so colorful and catches my 15mo's attention when we look at it together. Our pediatrician told us to work on more different words and this book really helps with that task. Highly recommend. Only thing to note is this non is physically bigger than all the others in this series.

Great book for littles!
This is a great book for toddlers — we originally purchased this for our 12 month old and it’s had great staying power over the years. It’s now a staple as part of a birthday gift for other kids!

A must for baby or toddler
We do like most of Priddy's books, especially the First 100 ... padded books. They are colorful, right side for little hands ( and for parents to have them handy everywhere whether it is car, plane or baby room). The first 100 animals book is not an exception from that and what we love most - colorful photos, some unexpected animals/birds/insects that usually not present in other books for little ones. Book does not only entertain our toddler, but also helps to build his vocabulary and curiosity. And educates him as well - the other day our 18 month old competently said "moth" pointing to the what was actually a moth, while everyone else on playground was saying "butterfly".

Duplicate animals while missing some other important ones.
Bought this book and others in the series due to their actual photos of animals rather than artistic stylized drawings, and it's quite good for that. However... There are not actually 100 animals in this book. There are up to 95 depending on whether you count a different variety of animal that's given the same name to be a different animal. The lion, zebra, elephant, penguins, and moth are copied to two different places in the book. Slightly different pictures, same animal. There are three different owls: a barn owl, a horned owl, and a snowy owl, the first two of which are simply labeled "owl". The "birds" page has both a macaw AND a parrot. I wish this page had included some kind of small songbird like a sparrow or a chickadee instead of doubling up like this. There's also an error, the pelican is shown on the "rivers and lakes" page despite being a sea bird. Maybe they were intending to have a heron or egret here? I'm also not sure why the turtle is being called a terrapin. Would have been a good opportunity to compare a turtle and a tortoise but the tortoise is also not in this book. The gosling on the front cover is not actually present inside the book, though it does have ducklings (no adult duck or goose though). It has a foal and a pony, but no horse. And like some other reviewers mentioned, many of the photos are not helpful, being close-up shots of the animal's face rather than a full-body image that would have shown the animal's distinguishing features better. If I didn't know what an ostrich was, seeing a closeup of its ugly face would not help me identify one at the zoo.

First 100 Animals
We love this book series. They are the perfect size for toddlers and have lots to look at. They are especially great in the car for traveling!

Excellent
Easy and fun way to teach names of animals. Can be used for bilingual family, too, as toddlers don't read. My little one loves to make the imitative call of each animal and even mimic their movements.

Brilliant!
My son is quite possibly obsessed with this book! He is a year old and just starting to learn animal names and noises. This book works very much like a set of flash cards and he enjoys pointing to the animals and telling us what they are. I also like that the pictures Re photographs, rather than illustrations - I think it makes it easier for him to recognise them. A very good first book of animals. Oh, and it's pretty indestructible, too!
