In fact, earlier versions of this book --the so-called "Blue Book" -- used MIPs as the foundation and the astute reader will note the many similarities in the RISC V and MIPs instruction sets. Patterson & Hennessy are also well known for Computer Architecture: A Quantitative Approach. But I have found throughout my career that the Organization book is a bit more suited to the hand's on software engineer, designer, or architect than the more theoretical work.
