Tefal Pro Express Protect Steam Generator Iron, 7.5 Bar, Burgundy/Black

I’ve had this iron nearly 2 years now and it’s a workhorse, never fails. I tried a nicer looking Philips iron before this but, having had a Tefal steam generator iron previously, the Philips was no match and was returned for this iron. It’s heavy when attached to the base and large so takes quite a bit of kitchen cabinet space. When the iron and base are separated, the hand held part is still reasonably heavy (when compared to the Philips), but, the weight helps with the pressing of creases. The steam on this iron is amazing, it just keeps coming and you can steam vertically which is great for relaxing stubborn creases out of shirts. The steam generated on this is so good that I only have to iron my children’s t-shirts on one side and, for hard to press cargo shorts and trousers, I hang them up and steam them upright, which makes light work of the task. It’s easy to clean and the anti-limescale filter is easily accessed and cleaned - just be careful that the iron has fully cooled, any built up pressure has been lost and it’s on the drained board when you unscrew it, as it is full of water. In summary, a fantastic iron, pricey for an iron but, in my opinion, well worth the investment. I bought it on the ‘5 month payment’ option, without interest. Makes it easier on the wallet.

An excellent steam generator iron that is simple to use with two heat settings, it really does seem to sense what material you are ironing and never gets it wrong. It’s very clever how it does this and cuts down on ironing time with abundance of steam. I purchased this iron to replace a Russell Hobbs colour generator steam iron that was never great from the beginning, that had a complicated internal filter that failed and actually ruined some clothes. The Tefal pro Express protect steam generator iron is quite expensive, but is definitely worth paying a little extra for in my opinion.

Had a steam generator iron of another make some years ago, and eventually replaced it with an ordinary steam iron. Always regretted it as I missed the ease of ironing with a steam generator, and this one doesn’t disappoint! The hand held part is very lightweight and glides through creases on all types of fabric, without the need to change the temperature setting. Extremely simple to use and the results are amazing! A bigger item to store, but definitely worth it!

Overall, I’m really happy with this Tefal Pro Express Protect. It’s a great iron and feels surprisingly light compared with my old Tefal, which makes a big difference when you’re ironing for a longer time. I also really like that you don’t need to keep changing the temperature depending on the fabric. You can move from one material to another without worrying about adjusting the settings, and it works very well on most everyday clothes. Thicker fabrics such as jeans or heavy cotton still need a bit more pressure and plenty of steam, but that’s understandable with heavier materials. My main disappointment is the amount of steam it produces. If you’re ironing for an hour or so, you’re basically surrounded by steam the whole time, and quite a lot of it comes towards your face. The room can become very steamy as well, so good ventilation is definitely needed. I understand that the powerful steam is designed to make ironing faster and easier, and it certainly does help with removing creases, but I wasn’t expecting quite so much steam. Despite this, I think it’s a very good iron overall, especially for the lightweight design and the convenience of not having to change the temperature.

I originally ordered another ‘normal’ steam iron, which, according to reviews was supposed to easily remove creases and glide across your fabric. It was a well known make, but definitely did not live up to expectations, it even had what looked like residue on the plate, which did not shift and made the iron drag on the fabric. Needless to say this iron is being returned! So after much deliberation, (due to the price), and research, I decided to give this Tefal steam generator a go as the reviews were good and the normal price was reduced by £100. Having never used a steam generator Iron before, I have to say I’m really impressed. The iron itself is lovely and light to use and the water tank is huge, meaning less refills. The unit heats up reasonably quickly and is very easy to use, but the most impressive thing is that creases come out very easily, and folded items are ironed both sides at once, so my ironing time is reduced significantly, winner, winner! So far I’m a very happy customer and at this time (having only used the iron once) I would definitely recommend this iron.

Really good. Lightweight, easy to carry with foldaway iron lead into machine. Easy to fill tank, which slots onto body of machine easily. Easy to use iron, with fabulous steam boost again lightweight and easy to manoeuvre . Sole plate non stick non scratch and good size for jeans, duvet covers tablecloths and shirts and dresses. Cut through creased linen and cotton with ease, saving time and work. Automatic cut off safety feature when not in use. Sturdy clip holding iron onto base when in storage. Took a bit of getting used to after my last one, but had so much ironing to do, it really put it to the test and I am very pleased with it indeed. Heat cuts off when tank needs filling with water-avoids damage to the machine. Would recommend.

Bought to replace similar one. Easy to use. Works for all clothes without having to change the settings.

Great iron, quiet, with a strong flow of steam. Only negative was that plug didn't ship with a plastic prong cover; so the prongs scuffed the plastic in transit. It doesn't affect how the unit performs, but a shame that it looks damaged.
