The length of the string will be decided by the overall length of the bow. Having the right string length will allow you to get the proper brace height and the correct preloaded stress on the limbs. It will allow the bow to shoot quiet, smoothly and tune well with the arrows selected. Length of string will not alter the weight of the bow in the way you might think. If you want to change the actual poundage like go from a 30lbs pound bow to a 35lbs bow, you will need to get a 35lb limb.
