Based on Jonathan Swift's 18th century immortal tale. This animated feature includes wonderful songs and endearing characters. It took nearly 700 artists to complete this 1939 feature film which was directed by Dave Fleischer and produced by Max Fleischer for Fleischer Studios. Gulliver, an ordinary sailor, washes ashore on the island of Lilliput where the people are small enough to fit in the palm of his hand. There he tries to prevent war between Lilliput and a rival island. While this charming production does take some liberties with the storyline as compared to Swift's novel, it is sure to be a treasured favorite for many. Featuring the singing voices of Jessica Dragonette as Princess Glory and Lanny Ross as Prince David. Review: A classic cartoon - When I was about seven years old (A very, very long time ago!) my local cinema srarted a Saturday morning Junior Club. The programme consisted of cartoons a serial and ended with a feature film. This was the feature film shown at the very first Junior Club. This feature cartoon is equal to Disney's and it hasn't dated at all Good story and music very well restored. Highly recommended.. Review: Nostalgia - A great nostalgia trip.

Loved this cartoon as a kid. Sound and picture isn't great but what can you expect from a very old film converted to dvd, better than it was on VHS. Can still make out characters etc

Extremely Poor Picture and sound quality
Extremely Poor Picture and sound quality. It looks like its been taken from a 5th generation copy of a poor quality VHS tape. The film does exist in perfect condition. I know this because it it has been shown on the BBC back in the 1980s.

Meh
Came a few days before delivery date which was good. But the way it's been transferred to DVD from video, it's ruined the quality of the film, the focus is bad and sometimes you can't see their faces because they're too bright, it's like it's been copied too many times.

One of our son's favourites when he was small.
This was something we saw on TV when our son was small. He loved it and we taped it for him to watch as he wanted. He heard the opening music and immediately knew what it was. Good seller as it arrived in perfect condition and very quickly.

Old movie
This was a classic old movie made in 1939, but I couldn't find any other movies as good as this in the selection. It was hard to download it,too. But I guess it was worth it.

There are probably at least 100 films with which every American should be familiar by the time they reach young adulthood. Several are children's films, both live and animated, including: The Wizard of Oz, Miracle on 34th Street, National Velvet, Snow White, Bambi, Mary Poppins. Gulliver's Travels is certainly among these. Produced in 1939 (the GREATEST year in movie history), Gulliver's Travels was only the second full-length animated feature film ever produced (less than 2 years behind Disney's Snow White). Yes, I know the story line bears no more resemblance to the Jonathan Swift classic than the Wizard of Oz does to the Frank Baum novelettes. So what? These are great flicks...for kids and any of us who was ever a kid. Apparently, the problem with Gulliver's Travels is that after the demise of the Fleisher Brothers Studio which produced it, the film fell into the public domain where any one could produce and market copies; some faithful to the original, some "restored" with varying results, some absolutely dreadful. So, which copy to add to our collection? I gambled on the 60th Anniversary Limited Edition (1999) by North Hampton Partners, Ltd. I am well pleased with my choice. To be sure, the video and especially the audio are far from perfect. But this DVD gives you 4 sound choices, and it is eminently watchable...preferably with small children to share it. Gulliver's Travels is one of my earliest movie memories. It's been at least 50 years since I saw this film in it's entirety, and seeing it again quickly took me back to my childhood. I was delighted by the nearly non-stop sight-gags among the minor characters, and moved by the plight of the separated lovers. I caught myself humming "All's Well" and "Faithful, Forever" throughout the rest of the day. And its lessons of KINDNESS, fidelity ("Faithful-Forever"), and avoiding pettiness are timeless. There may be better, cleaner video versions out there, but you will not go wrong by choosing this 60th Anniversary Limited Edition. Finally, kudos to the merchant, ThriftPro. The DVD arrived in only 3 days (?!), in new condition as promised, and for a very reasonable price.
