Quality product with good support
In a sea of look-alike inverters from unknown brands on Amazon, how does one decide what to buy? This is a detailed review of a Voltworks 1500W continuous (3100W 2 sec peak) inverter, why I bought it and how it has performed over the first month. Why Voltworks: I chose this company as it has been around for several years and has an online reputation for producing decent products and standing behind its 18-month warranty. I believe that it also manufactures Giandel and Leesky inverters, offered with slightly different features and prices. Though my inverter has had no problems so far, I asked customer service several questions and received answers within a day or so. โAliceโ was clearly not reading from a call-center script, with detailed replies to difficult questions. In the box: The cardboard box has internal foam for protection, and includes the inverter, cables, remote control, spare fuses, and user manual packed neatly. The inverter itself measures approx. 8x13x4โ, weighs 8.6 lbs, and appears solidly built โ all metal and with heat-disippating fins all around. The 2โ red and black battery cables are paired 16mm2, which works out to almost 2AWG, i.e., better than the 4AWG cables in the Amazon listing. The wired remote control has 4 screws for attachment, 2 each of 2 types for use on different surfaces, and 3 spare 40A fuses are also included. A sheet of paper states that included pads are to be attached to the inverter base plate, but mine came with 4 cushioned pads already installed. Initial start-up: A key thing to remember is that before using it for the first time (or after a long period of no usage), the inverter must be run without a load for 30-60 minutes. This is to allow the capacitors time to charge properly, otherwise one risks the possibility of an explosion or reduced life expectancy. After an initial 30-minute warmup, the inverter did make some sound on the first load test, but quieted down on subsequent trials. Loads tested: I am using it in a house emergency generator system powered by my Toyota Prius, whose 12V circuit can spare a continuous 1200W at best, far below the inverterโs 1500W rated capacity. It is good practice to select an inverter rated 25% above its anticipated load anyway. With some combination of full-size fridge, small space heater, rice cooker, fans and lights (not all at the same time), I tested continuous loads up to 900W and initial surges well above that when appliances were turned on, as measured by a watt meter that shows range. I did not test the USB or hardwired outlets. System controls: The inverterโs low voltage cutoff system worked as stated in the manual, switching off momentarily at the voltage I set and restarting seconds later when the voltage had increased to normal levels. My setup does not need the remote control with 15โ cable, but it worked fine. The inverterโs fans were not noisy, and turned on only when the load or temperature exceeded certain levels. The approx. 1โx4โ display has lots of data but was easy to read, and output wattage shown was consistent with that of my external watt meter. Connections: Input cable connections are covered with plastic caps for protection from shorts โ a nice touch, though it means that cables to the battery can exit in only one direction if the (optional) caps are used. I spliced an additional cable to the included 3โ 14AWG ground cable and connect it to the earth with an aluminum tent peg. Note that per a Voltworks online video, opening the inverter to replace fuses requires unscrewing the output side plateโs 4 screws and sliding out the center panel of the top plate, after disconnecting the cable feeding the display. I am not sure this will be quite as easy as demonstrated. Potential improvements: * The almost flush, black power switch on the black side plate is hardly visible, especially in low-light emergency conditions, and should be a brighter color. * The 28 page user manual is far better than those of some competitors. However, it does have several errors; I was told that an updated version is being rolled out. * The included battery cables, while adequate, do not match the quality of Voltworks cables I purchased for use elsewhere in my system. Those are rated for 105C, with thicker and better-finished heat shrinks, and smaller 10mm lugs. Conclusion: All in all, I am pleased with this purchase and will rate it 5 stars for initial product quality and responsive customer service. I hope this review has been helpful, and commit to updating it as my experience warrants over the next few years.

Makes a great power station
Works great with my 2000watt power station with 2 100ah batteries

2000 / 4100 watt surge inverter. Looks good for RV use.
Installed this 2000 watt inverter to test and compare to a low frequency 2000 watt pure sine wave inverter. Overall works good. Some positives: low idle power 3 watts vs 40 for the low frequency. Runs an 18 cf refrigerator at 26 watts vs 60 for the low frequency. Haven't tested a 1100 watt microwave yet or tried my air compressor both of which the low frequency run. A few minor negatives: M6 studs for DC input need to be M8 at the smallest. Cables are marginal, I prefer 2/0 when pulling 145 amps to run a 1100 watt microwave.

Exceeded my expectations
Having already purchased the 1500W Pure Sine Wave Inverter for a work truck, I opted for the 1000W PSW for my daily use SUV. Both inverters have performed exceedingly well. I don't have a need for the full output wattage of either of the inverters but I had two reasons for buying the excess power. 1. I didn't want to have a cooling fan whirring in the background while making phone calls over bluetooth. 2. I often operate audio equipment which can have a momentary high power draw. During daily use, the cooling fans have not activated on either of the inverters. I did perform a test with a heat gun and soldering iron plugged in to verify that the fans would activate when needed. I took some photos of that condition but I didn't realize that I had been dropping sweat onto the LCD display and made it unreadable in some of the photos... hot summer days. The fans are not loud but are noticeably audible. A very cool feature of having the inverter in the cabin of your vehicle is that it's like having the actual car battery at your fingertips. I added taps to the terminals of the inverter and connected them to the reverse-gear signal of my double-din stereo, with a multi-position switch in-between. I can now use the switch to alternate between my vehicle cameras on demand. The wiring is easily concealed and didn't require disassembling the dashboard to tap into the vehicle 12-volt lines. I no longer think of my vehicles having a 12-volt limitation and it's now 2nd nature to simply plug in any power tool, lighting accessory, or audio component without concern. The Pure Sine Wave is a must for audio equipment and power tools benefit as well. I own a DeWalt 1000W Modified Sine Wave inverter and it's now sitting on a shelf. I can hear a difference in a metal grinder running with the Pure Sine Wave inverter and feel the tool doesn't get hot as it does with the Modified Sine Wave inverter. I run the inverters for a couple of hours continuous use each day and neither of them have shutdown, blown a fuse, or drained my truck battery. The customer service at VoltWorks is unmatched. They reply right away to an email inquiry and are very solution-minded. With solar panel projects in my future, the reliable customer service at VoltWorks means they will be my first choice for inverters.

Great inverter!
Great inverter! I got this for my solar power system camping setup with my two 100 amp LiFePo4 batteries to use for cooking with a 110 volt induction stove (440 watts) and water kettle (400 watts). I needed pure sine wave power, and this unit delivers exactly what I need! It makes very little noise (fan) when operating - not noticeable. It gives very clear readouts on the LED display, and is easy to install and operate. I highly recommend this unit. As far as Iโm concerned, this is the best inverter in this power range for the money!

Not as advertised. Please read for details
I have owned many inverters good and bad. I would put this in the bad category. It is nice sized with remote and cables but will not handle 3000 watts. I ran a small compressor approx 1000 watts and it did good. The included cable got warm which shouldn't happen since it's well under 3000watts. I wanted to cut the cables open to really see the percentage of wire to shielding (super soft, light and flexible cables)but if it was getting returned I didn't want to destroy those. I installed my own super heavy duty cables ( I don't know the size but approx finger diameter. The wire itself not the shielding) so I could make sure that wasn't the issue. I next tested with a 15amp mig welder and popped the inverter with out even welding. It blew the inverter with just an arc I never got the chance to start welding. It never reset like it should and I opened it up to find 15 fuses inside and all were in good shape. It might be a great inverter for lower draw applications but your not buying this 3000 watt continuous 6000 watt max to just run a TV. Luckily it's Amazon and I got a refund although it took 2 weeks. I purchased one at my local HF store and it worked like a champ. Welded a few inches on high. No cables and no remote but it doesn't the work. I'm not writing this review to be mean but as a heads-up to the next person looking at the heavy duty specs and expecting to actually get what is advertised.

True sine wave, very stable. Very good quality build.
Real sine wave, very stable. Tested with input: 11.9V Values with no load: RMS: 118V Duty Cycle: ~ 50% Frequency: 59.9 Hz Vpp:348V 40-80W Noisy inductive load (Dremel 10-35K RPM) RMS: 119V Duty Cycle: (+)51% (-)49% Vpp:352V Seems very professional electronic design. I'm really impressed at the quality of this product, and honestly hope it lasts and I don't have to come back for a negative review on durability. See reference pictures and video above.
