The unit Klipsch one II is plug in vs rechargeable battery. The unit with battery is the one vs the one II. Yes it is a bit confusing. **Q: Does this provide bidirectional sound? I’m looking to place on a kitchen island.** A: The speakers in the One II are forward firing, not bi directional sound. **Q: Does the phono version have everything including quality that "the one ii" has? if yes, why is it less expensive?** A: That is a question to ask the manufacturer. We listen to many genres of music and this speaker does not disappoint. Also key for us was the re-chargeable battery which would allow us to move the speaker as we wanted. If you are looking for a classically styled (real wood not plastic) and real fabric (again not plastic) that sounds as good as it looks. Then this speaker is for you.
