but you cannot get a better sounding $1000 3 channel amp
This AMP is beyond incredible. Yes we know there are way more expensive amplifiers and some are worth the money, but you cannot get a better sounding $1000 3 channel amp. I'm using it to drive my Polk Audio lsi25 L/R and lsiC. These speakers are 4ohm and very power hungry. Once I connected them to this emotiva, it was night and day. If you have any doubts about this unit, take it from a very picky audiophile. Clarity, musical, balanced, and extreme detail. Emotiva is shaking up the power amp market with affordable power and performance.

Great Amp for the Money
If you don't have $3k for a Parasound get this. @ $1200 it's a real good deal. The Gen 3 amps are more neutral and warm the Gen 1 & 2. Voices come out clear with no harsh highs. I can listen to Rush 2112 @ -5db and not get a head ache. Mid bass is great (have the C/O on my AVR @ 80HZ). Overall performance is great. I did an A/B with just my AVR (Denon AVR-X4400H) powering my speakers . The depth and detail is so much grater with the amp over the AVR. I also looked at Outlaw and Monoprice. Glad I got the XPA-3.

Denon/Klips
Awesome amplifier. Was kicking around the idea of getting a vintage amp to really drive my RS7ii, I gave this a try and was happily impressed and If you love or hate Klips you owe it to yourself to hear them through a good amplifier, it changes everything. Large speakers or small a strong amp always makes a difference. I have a Denon 6300 which most would say could easily drive my speakers, and it does, just not as well as the Emotiva, and I would wager just about any other amplifier in its range. Build quality is very good, packaging as well. I haven't had any problems, but I did call tech support while waiting for the unit, I was concerned about the preamp voltage on my Denon and the Emotivas matching. They assured me it wouldn't be an issue they were right dynamics haven't missed a beat haven't fried anything (third channel is driving a Klip RC64ii) and an added bonus is the other 8 channels in the Denon have quite a bit more headroom now. Shortly after my initial review, the 12v switching started giving me problems, I tested the cable which was fine and replaced it just for good measure, I believe its a cold solder joint. I was willing to live with that, something I could easily fix myself at a later date. About a week later I was playing it pretty hard for a long while and the safety's tripped. Powered down and it reset, the amplifier was obviously warm but not hot so I proceeded to thoroughly check all the cables and found no issues, so I decided to exchange it as I was still in the return period with Amazon. Great service on their part, had a new unit in 2 days. The second unit came up and ran fine for a few days, then yesterday the safteys tripped again. I am in the middle of returning it now. Carver made some impressive advancements in bringing hi end audio sound down to an affordable level. I thought the same would be true of Emotiva, and it is with the exception of production quality. I'm going to have to lay out a considerably larger amount of money to replace it, but that is better than always wondering how long it's gonna work . FYI this was not a power or ventilation issue. The unit sits solo on a counter top with an AC Infinity Cooler (Not that it ever seemed to need it). The Amp had a dedicated 20A circuit with 10ga wire and Leviton Panel Surge Protection. Both lines on the panel are monitored by two APC UPS units for my gaming rig and network.

Breathes new life into my high end system!!
I had been toying with adding an amplifier to my GoldenEar system for a bit now. Im running Triton 3+ mains, a supercenter xxl, Aon 2 surrounds and invisa 650 in ceilings for atmos, plus a forcefield 5 subwoofer. My system off the receiver (denon x3300) sounded excellent at low to mid volumes, but started to tighten up and almost sound congested/less dynamic. I put this system together about 2 weeks ago, and started wondering if i was hearing my speakers at their full potential. Spoiler, i was not!! lol. I bought a refurbished amazon warehouse xpa 3 gen 3 that arrived immaculate and appeared brand new, hooked it up to my front L/C/R and i was floored. I feel like my GoldenEars really sing now, especially in the mid's and high's (which is why people buy GoldenEar) Honestly, i am probably gonna add another amp in the very near future. Buy this amp without reservation.

Great amp but...
Had my 3 channel version for 2 weeks and I just wanted to share my impressions with it so far. Sorry, can't compare it to any other versions or amps for that matter because this is the first I'm incorporating an external amp to my home theater setup. For those wanting to know, my theater consists of an 11.2.4 Dolby atmos setup using a Marantz sr7009 as a pre amp for the LCR's with the Marantz powering everything else. My speakers are the Bic Accoustec PL 980 towers, PL 28ii center and the PL 66 for SR's and SRB's, 2 PL 200 handling sub duties and lastly 4 JBL Control One outdoor speakers for the overhead sounds. Didn't feel the need at the time to go for expensive speakers just for overhead sounds but may consider changing this in the future. Now on to my impressions. After rerunning Auydssey, the sound quality in both movie and music listening has changed dramatically. With the Emotiva now doing the heavy lifting up front, so much more detail and nuances can be heard. Not only up front, but with all my other speakers as well because the Marantz is now more capable of driving the surrounds and overheads. One of the biggest difference is the bass extension. Although my speakers are very efficient I can now see or hear for that matter how more power was needed to put out the bass that I always felt was lacking from my system and thought it was a limitation of my speakers until I got the XPA Gen3. Especially in 2 channel listening. With such a boost to my listening experience I will definitely be adding more channels to my amp in the future. Now to the bad. I know that I am probably one of the very rare cases but none the less it was very unsettling to me, especially as a first time customer of Emotiva. I had the amp for 2 weeks then all of a sudden when I fired it up 2 days ago the amp was stuck in protect mode. I tried everything from disconnecting everything and connecting one item at a time to troubleshoot to connecting it all back up on a different breaker to see if maybe I was getting a DC leak into my AC line but still no luck so I called tech support. After a brief diagnosis, the tech agreed that I have a faulty unit and emailed me a return shipping label and put in an order for a new 3 channel amp for me that I should have in about 10 days. Although I'm still in my 30 day home trial window I feel that they still would've given me that first class support and take care of me had I been outside the window. Best part is once I receive the new amp I will still have 2 weeks left to audition it should I feel dissatisfied and want to send it back for a full refund however from what I heard so far I don't think I'll be sending it back. I will be adding more channels and will be hopefully enjoying the amp and maybe a second one once all 7 channels are filled up on the first one, for years to come.

XPA Gen 3 Continue to WoW me and now I'm using this three channel Amp to drive my Elac UF5 and UC5 and Using my Denon X4200W to drive the Elac B6 as my surround sound. This amp match up very well with my Elac speakers due to they are very power hunger and require 4 ohm load, as the result I'm very happy of how it sound with movies and music very clean, clear and great dynamic image.

Nice Amp!
This a beast of a amp, it really wakes up my Klipsch speakers. My Yamaha receiver could never drive my speakers the way this amp does and it does not get hot!
