Here's a simple tip for those who are disgruntled over the polarization issue. What I have done was simply taken my multimeter and set it to the audible continuity test setting. Insert one prong of your multimeter into either slot of the female end and touch the other prong to either individual male plug ends. If it beeps or doesn't beep, you know which is which. Simply take a Sharpie, tape or a sticker and somehow identify which end corresponds to the skinny or wide polarized plugs. Voila! This isn't rocket science. You'll then keep your polarization consistent throughout your chain of house wiring, extension cord and whatever you have plugged into the end of it. Simple!
