I've worn the boots twice, so this is my initial review. I ordered them because they are not leather (personal preference), but they look good. After my first two wears, they are comfortable, relatively light-weight. In shoes, I either wear an 8.5 or a 9 - I got the 8.5 in these and they fit well. I'm dealing with plantar fasciitis, so I pulled out the insoles and put mine in, which was very easy to do. These insoles are a little thicker with more arch support, but they fit easily and there is enough room in the boots that my feet are still comfortable. I tied the laces and have been using the zippers to put them on and take them off, and that works well so far. I am mildly concerned that the zipper may not be durable - it feels a little flimsy, but it may not be. As the manufacturer stated, there is a bit of an odor, but I haven't found it to be too strong. I anticipate that it will dissipate as they also stated. I am very happy with the purchase so far and will update this review if there is anything else I can tell you to help you make an informed decision. UPDATE: I've been wearing them for nearly a year now. They still look good and are comfortable. The zippers are still intact and working well. There is no odor.

I was disappointed when I opened the box and realized that the boots aren’t as shiny as shown in the pictures. They are nice nonetheless, and I can polish them for a greater shine if I want but I don’t think I will. They are good as is. Unlike some reviewers, these boots do not run large. They are true to size. My size is 9.5 and I usually wear 10 in winter boots because of my thick socks (Carhartt Men’s Extremes). Because of the other reviews I decided to buy 9.5. I regret this decision. I should’ve stuck with 10. Two days ago I got another pair of boots on Amazon from another company (Global Win) for $13.00. Those boots have a nice fur inner lining. These boots have no such inner lining. The comparison is on! Intended Use - The winter season is almost over. I bought this primarily to wear each weekend for church so this will get at least 7 wears by the end of March. I will probably wear this during the week on the odd occasion. I don’t see myself as having to walk through inches of snow based on my normal routine. Since it does not have inner-fur and fits slightly tight with my winter socks, I guess I will be able to wear these boots during spring and summer. We'll see. UPDATE: I bought this pair in February 2018. It's now February 2020 and still looks great, no deterioration or defects manifested.

Some reviews complain that the zippers are problematic. If you line the two sides of the zipper up and make sure the dust flap is behind the teeth they zip quick and easy, almost completely effortless. If you make the laces really tight I could see having an occasional alignment issue but all I did was loosen the laces, put them on, zipped them up, lace them up fairly snug, and haven't touched the laces since and the one working zipper on each boot always does its' job easily and properly for me. Note that there are 2 zippers on each boot but only the in-seam side zipper is functional, the other one is only there for decoration. Some reviews say this boot is uncomfortable and falls apart quickly. So far I've walked the entire New Orleans French Quarter several times like a tourist, rode the "street car" all the way down St. Charles Avenue and walked all the way back, spent 2 weeks clearing a lot including cutting and hauling trees, running a push lawn mower twice, and I continue to wear these boots as my regular work footwear without a single blister and other than losing some shine and having new wrinkles and creases in the typical foot joints they're still fully intact, the soles are still completely attached, I can stay in them all day with lots of walking and/or lots of standing around, and for the price I'm amazed at how well they fit and how well they're holding up, especially after everything I've put them through, based on so many negative reviews... As for the reviews complaining that they're really "squeaky". For the first few weeks there was lots of leather on leather creaking with every step I took as the tongue rubbed against the shaft while I walked in these boots so sneaking up on someone was almost impossible at first but that has pretty much faded away with continued wearing. I've had far more expensive hi-top sneakers, cowboy boots, and motorcycle boots make that same noise until they were fully broken in so to me that's just "a boot thing"... I don't expect them to hold up as well as or as long as any of my motorcycle boots and cowboy boots but for daily casual footwear at such a cheap price I'm surprised and totally happy so far.

These boots are great. They not only look good but they are comfortable to wear as well. I bought the grey ones and I like them so much I am going to purchase the brown ones as well. I normally wear a 10 1/2 shoe and an 11 in boots. These boots were true to size for me.

Look good and they are comfortable. Easy on off with the side zipper. Update 7 days after initial review. Sole came off front of one boot. I will not be buying any other Polar Fox boots. What a shame too they looked good and were comfortable. Very disappointed.

Went looking for a replacement order of boots after the last pair I used gave out and I figured I'd give these a try. ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- The Pros - SUPER comfortable. Given that I am a wide foot, I really like the fit of these (Nice and sturdy) - Big toe box. No pressure bearing down on any toes - Great looking plaid design for interior (Good contrast if worn loosely with jeans tucked in) - Stitch details and belt buckle hold up during everyday use (Sometimes I will be up and running around all day and these boots can definitely hold up all the abuse) ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- The Cons - Will begin to give out in certain areas (Heel block has cracked on right shoe and now 'clicks' with each step regardless of how much pressure I sustain. No bueno) - Other users have complained about the ease of forming creases and they are absolutely right. The leather does not hold up too well near the toe box and develops creases on both sides of the cap toe making for some really gnarly features (Best solution I have found is to keep a pair of tree horns on these daily while not in use. Prevents the creases from becoming more noticeable) - Bottoms are crap. After about 2 weeks of daily use, any form of grip that was present will surely be gone. (After about a month they will be nearly flat with the an orange/brown discoloring beginning to appear) ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- I really like the comfort and the style of these boots, but unfortunately there are more than a few areas that they can be improved for functionality and durability. Probably worth getting if you're shopping on a budget, but there are definitely better options if you invest a couple of $'s more.

Great looking boot. Especially cool with a slim cut jean. Seems to be made of great quality. Even smells like real leather!

Fits as expected when you follow the guidelines to order half a size smaller (typically I wear size 8, ordered 7.5 as recommended). I noticed what some of the other reviewers mentioned about the opening being a bit small, but that was easily solved just by loosening the laces a lot. I find myself unlacing the very top to get my foot in easily, but once my foot is in the boot and it's laced up completely it fits very well. I do recommend taking a little time to break them in as they are stiff. I wore them for a few hours at a time, low to moderate activity, for a couple days and that seems to be all they needed to make them less stiff. There is a fairly strong smell when I first received them but it pretty much dissipated by the time I broke them in. I found them to be water resistant enough to keep my feet dry while walking around rainy Seattle but I didn't try slogging through a puddle or snow. They are not heavy-duty work-boots by any means, but they look good and I was able to walk around a city all day with no problems.

Great boots! Fashionable and reasonably warm as well.
