Very ergonomic and manufactured to a very high standard, the diamond coating performed better than I expected. first use was on very old worn down frets, leveled so low they actually should have be replaced but I figured give it a go it can't hurt. The dagger did it's job perfectly and brought them back to life. The other neck with a just small level took all of 5 minutes to get a perfect crown all the way down. It will just take more elbow grease on your end, and wear out the tool faster **Q: Will it work on low narrow frets on mandolins** A: Hello Richard, Depending on how narrow your mandolin frets are, this may not be the ideal file for that application. Do you know how wide the frets actually are? The sweet spot for the narrow side of this file is around .080" to .095" + or so. The good news is we have a smaller version of this file in the works. **Q: How long should it last? I've used my 2.0 on about 25-50 necks and it seems dull.** A: 25 to 50 necks? Then It paid for itself eons ago. I've only done 2 necks so far. If it's like my other files then it should last a lifetime. That is, if you keep it clean at all times with a brass brush and chalk. And store it in a dry place. Hope I get 50 necks out it. I'll be doin a stainless fret job soon. True test on that one, **Q: Is it faster to use expedited shipping? Works well and leaves a nice finish easy to polish. Excellent results. The only issue I have is the price in Canada compared to US which is ridiculous, and just recently went up quite a bit too... If you're in USA don't even think about it, get it! If in Canada, well, you are just getting ripped-off as usual... not the product's fault. It is a very good tool that saves lots of time and provides fast quality results.
