Each bumper weighs 13 pounds…most bumpers weigh a mere 1-3 pounds! Easy installation. 3 holes for mounting are provided. Can be mounted directly to the piling or dock. Any stainless or galvanized 3/8” thick x 6” or 8” length will work. A rubber plug is provided to conceal all hardware to provide a seamless and professional installation with no protruding hardware. Review: Very Well Made Heavy Duty - I bought these to replace two old styrofoam pads that had completely deteriorated in the sun and weather. These bumpers I'm sure will out live me. They are very heavy duty and robust. I like them so much I have ordered 4 more. They take a little time to arrive but there are worth the wait. A word of caution during installation my DeWalt cordless drill just about went into the lake as I mounted them at the bottom of the wood. Turn your torque down to about 15 or16 when installing the 6" lag screws so your drill doesn't twist, break your hand and fall into the water.

**Q: What size mounting screw do I need**
A: You'll need 3/8" x 6" Galvanized or Stainless Lag Screws - you can buy them at a great price at: dockbuilders.com. You may want to consider the matching washers as well (they're not absolutely necessary, but the lag bolt head is not much bigger than the hole in the bumper).

**Q: I am going to mount them on 2 inch square pipe.  What size bolt should I use?**
A: 3/8 x 6 in bolt

**Q: Could these be cut into 4 1-foot sections?  I want to use on a stationary dock vertically on the 2x12 bandboard.**
A: Sure they can be cut but be aware that they have precut (3) holes for mounting vertically..... You would have to modify mounting holes for your particular situation. Additionally the holes which are pre-drilled are reinforced in the 3 positions standard to the bumper.

**Q: I need to mount these to a concrete seawall.  What do I attach them with?  Tap on screw seem to eventually pull out - thinking of the weight of these.**
A: You can buy concrete anchors. Drill holes in cement for them and the screws go into them, They will not pull out.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The BEST Bumper + Installation Tips

There is nothing better even for 3x this price. I've tried several others - inflatable, rubber, plastic. When you're done looking around, just buy one of these and you'll see. Some older reviews said shipping was slow, but they shipped mine out 2 days after I ordered. These are commercial grade hard rubber - like densely packed recycled tire rubber. It will last many years even when submerged in salt water . It's not soft. You can stand on it and it will not compress. They are designed to withstand heavy impacts. However, when I pushed my docked 41' boat into it, I clearly saw it compressing and adsorbing the shock. If you're looking for a soft bumper for a small boat, this may not be appropriate. You'll need 3/8" x 6" Galvanized or Stainless Lag Screws - you can buy them at a great price at: dockbuilders.com. You may want to consider the matching washers as well (they're not absolutely necessary, but the lag bolt head is not much bigger than the hole in the bumper). I recommend that you pre-drill the holes into the piling or wood to make it easier to screw in the lag bolts and to avoid cracking. I used a 7/32" bit, but a 1/4" might have worked better. You can also use some lubricant on the screws. You'll need a ratchet and Socket to screw them into the wood. Here is an installation technique: Pre-thread the bolts into the bumper with about a half inch protruding. Line up the bumper and mark it's location with a marker pen. Put the bumper aside. Measure down from the mark and drill the top pilot hole. Take the bumper and completely screw in the top screw. Now, screw in the other 2 bolts just enough to make a mark on the wood. With the bumper hanging on the top screw, pivot the bumper to the side and drill the remaining 2 pilot holes. Install the remaining 2 screws. It will be MUCH easier to align and screw in the lag bolts with pilots holes and a little lube on the threads will also help. Piling Facts: Bumpers are most important on rigid surfaces. Free Standing Pilings are not rigid - they have a great deal of give and are the safest things to bump. In fact, pivoting on them is a docking technique. But Pilings attached to docks and bulkheads are dangerous - they have no give. Bumpers are critical for these surfaces.
