The collar I received sure seems to be actual Herm Sprenger. The buckle makes this type collar so much easier to use than trying to squeeze a section and get the prongs lined up as HS designed it. This is even more the case if your pup doesn't sit perfectly waiting for you to figure it out. I dislike the design where the buckle is on the "Martingale" portion as it requires sliding the prongs over the dog's head which I worry would end up with poked eyeballs. Initially I was concerned that the small buckle would be a weak link. It is actually all metal and very strong. I pulled as hard as I could trying to make it fail, considerably more force than a dog could possibly put on it, and the buckle stayed closed. I really like the black color as I feel the chrome is too garish. I think you effectively only lose one segment's worth of prongs. The modification Derek's Goods does is very good quality and I wanted to take the time to say so.

Frankly, I'm too old for the strong dog that I have. I love him, I told myself, as I got up from the sidewalk and nursed my injuries. One kind passerby who is my age and apparently has a couple of strong dogs suggested to me that I get this sort of collar. She couldn't tell me the manufacturer's name but simply that is made in Germany. Through online research, I discovered the manufacturer. But fortunately, before I ordered one I discovered this Amazon seller who has modified it by adding a Quick Snap Buckle. The combination of the collar and the quick-snap buckle is truly amazing. This collar makes it so easy to walk my dog. He even enjoys the collar. And putting it on and taking it off is, forgive me, a snap! I think my dog and I can now look forward to many years together.
