So I can't compare. But, yes, I would think that the softcoat finish would hold better than the metallic finish. I have the softcoat and I never have any trouble with it slipping off my clothing. I've clipped it to the waistband of my pants, to the shoulder of my tops, and to the v-neck of my tops. I've never had it slip off. **Q: Does this measure the time you work out, the calories you burn and the fat you burn?** A: This is an interval timer to time your work out. You can put in your whole, for example hit program, and it will beep or vibrate to let you know when it’s time to move from one exercise to the next. It does not tell you any sort of bodily measurement such as calories, fat burned, etc. You will need your smartwatch for that. **Q: It's great that it vibrates - can you adjust the volume of the chime alarm (to be quieter in a gym)?** A: Yes, there are two volume levels (or no chime - vibration only). The vibration is about as loud as the quiet chime. You can also set the length of the beep/vibration. It's not very loud. I'd be more concerned about hearing it at all among the noises of a gym, but the vibration will be good. **Q: What is the difference between the miniMax and the regular one?** A: The regular Gymboss can time 1 interval, or 2 different intervals, and repeat them. It is very easy to set up. The miniMAX timer allows you to time up to 25 different intervals and repeat individual intervals or groups of intervals within the sequence. The miniMAX also allows you to save up to 20 programs for future use. You cannot save programs with the Classic.
