Q: Does it work with Serato Scratch Live?

yes. The plx 500 works with serato dj. You'll need a mixer with serato sound card/license or the add ons that allow you to connect to your computer. For the record, I love my plx 500. Just recorded my first vinyl record to digital format about an hour ago.

Q: Is this turntable automatic?

Poor turntable for djing as far as automatic its not.

Q: How hard is this to set up as i know nothing. Can i play music from my phone to this?

This is a turntable it has no speakers or amp, you cannot play music from this device.
