Very nice disposal with one fatal flaw
Why can companies not make things out of metal anymore? Especially something as important as a water connection point? My disposal was installed a year ago and I’ve loved it. A couple weeks ago I’m running a load in dishwasher and all of a sudden water is going everywhere! Turns out the plastic fitting broke! Tried to find a replacement locally with no luck so I ordered another disposal just to get the fitting. For the interim, I tried to epoxy the original fitting together. It only held a few days before it let go too. I posted a question on Kraus website asking if that fitting is available to purchase and so far no response. This to me is a serious flaw. I love the quiet operation. But now I have to worry about that fitting breaking off and dumping water all over again. Ugh. And I have a brand new disposal to store somewhere. So frustrated. Update: Kraus is sending me a replacement part and their customer service is great! While I continue to say I wish the part wasn’t plastic, I’d order another Kraus disposal without hesitation.

Best disposal I've ever owned
We've been in our new-to-us house for 3 years. The existing disposal developed an internal leak. Rather than fix it, it was time to replace it. Did my research and found this. I could not he happier. It looks great, was easy to install, great value for the money, and works well. My old one would clog the output line when grinding up potato peels. So of course, grinding potato peels was one of the first things I tried. No problem doing that whatsoever. And, it's quiet. My old one sounded like a Boeing 707 on takeoff. Not this. It is the quietest disposal I've ever had or heard. My only issue, which really isn't an issue, is that things do not easily make it past the included rubber splashback thingy. It comes with a stopper, which doubles as a "push stuff past the rubber splashback thingy" device. But what I often do, is just take the rubber thingy out, allowing the food to fall freely into the grind area, put the rubber thingy back in, and then grind. Even with that, I would definitely buy this again.

Quitest disposal I have ever had
I don't normally rave about products, but this is an exception. I have had probably 8-9 different disposals in various homes throughout my life and this is BY FAR the BEST. It is much smaller diameter than others I have had or installed. So takes up a lot less space under the sink. Also easier to install. Quiet? OMG this is SOOO QUIET. If it isn't grinding food you barely know it's running. Even when grinding food it is super quiet. Ridiculously quiet, especially for one that that is this strong. It has no problem grinding anything that I would put in there, and does so quickly. The only thing I don't like about it is the drain opening is too restricted. Water will back up into the sink pretty easily. I even got scissors and trimmed the center sections of the drain to open it up a little more for better drainage. This did help, but also made it slightly louder. I still think it was a good tradeoff. I have had this for about 6 months, but that is pretty short time for a disposal, so I can't speak to the longevity. Hopefully it will last for many years. Overall I would say it is a great product and I highly recommend it.

Quiet and Strong
This is a quiet and strong machine. Easy to install with direct plug in. If I can get some Longevity from this disposal, it will be well worth the money!

Quiet but certainly not “almost silent”
Replaced a 20+ year old insinkerator 1/4HP. Was replacing the sink with a Kraus sink and faucet and this looked good, made especially attractive by the “near silent” reviews. It was much taller (height) than the one it replace. Notably a very plastic design compared to the metal insinkerator it was replacing. It was especially nice that it had a rubber seal for use with stainless steel sinks and as both were Kraus this was both beautiful and easy. An unexpected challenge was the dishwasher hookup with the dishwasher connection on the opposite side to the original. This made connecting the pipe from the air gap perhaps the biggest challenge, and unexpected last minute trips to Lowes and Home Depot. Current pipes available either kink or are very stiff. Finally i managed to get one of the stiff “soak to make flexible” pipes work, but this was almost a show stopper and nearly required a specialized pipe order online. It comes with a short electric chord pre-wired with three prong plug, it was only just long enough, i would have liked it to be a few inches longer to rout nicely. You can hard wire it/replace it if you want to. End result is fine, it is much quieter than the old insinkerator, but it’s certainly not silent. Overall I’m very happy. Be careful if you have an airgap to make sure that’s not going to present an unexpected challenge with the pipe. The dishwasher hookup is above the drain outlet.

Quite
Overall Mated to a Kraus 16ga stainless steel sink. This disposal is super quiet. Partially due to the sink construction 16ga rather than 18ga gives rigidity to the mount resulting reduced vibration. The sink also has sound dampening material. Another factor that contributed to the decibel reduction is the rubber splash baffle. The baffle had some thought put into it. The entire disposal design also contributed to the noise level being reduced. The motor is high speed slightly smaller than the other guys, but not less capable. The housing makes for a very clean look under the sink. Kinda wasted behind cabinet doors but very nice when you leave the doors open. Installed (not including the preparation of an entire kitchen) in about 10 minutes including the plumbing to the dishwasher and the discharge pipe. The mount is a brilliant design. Not complicated, just simple and very sturdy. Bravo.

Its way quieter then my old one and half the size the drain out was like paper I squeezed it trying to adjust it while installing and snapped it and had to replace it the replacement was double the thickness

I returned a very noisy Waste King L8000 garbarator and replaced it with this very quiet Kraus unit. I couldn't be happier and would highly recommend this item. The product was nicely packaged and unit was easily installed. If you're looking for quality, power and quiet, buy this one!!!

I want three different carburetors over the years and this is the quietest, The only negative is that the rubber surrounding the drain is a little bit tight and food must be forced through using the drain plug provided. I believe this will change with time as the rubber wears in. I would buy again

New Kitchen, new sink and new garbage disposal. Sink is also Kraus so I figured I a Kraus disposal would be a good fit. I am impressed with the low noise level compared to my old Sears extra loud one. I'm not crazy about the rubber splash guard. Seems to block most debris. I have to push through almost everything otherwise the guard will block it.

works good after a year of normal use, few times daily

Leaking from dishwasher inlet! Not even used more than a month, started leaking. Good thing is warranty shipped out a new one, but guess what? Does not cover repair costs. So you're pretty much screwed with buying this. Better buying a better brand than this one, and not have to worry about it, since you're 150 dollar short just reinstalling this by a handyman.
