I don't actually follow the directions, all I do is throw a handful on the dirt, and then water. Doing it that way it seems to work for weeks. And my plants make an amazing amount of flowers. I didn't realize there were different types of fertilizer for flowering plants. I have also used this on flowering bushes with great results. When you notice that your Lilacs are making flowers, but before blooming, throw a handful or two around their base, and the bush will make a lot more flowers!!
