Worked well from day one

This works really well! I just got a PC from a friend an the hard drive that was in it before (this one) was dead, I got another one only for it to be bad and then got this one. It's perfect! This is a great hard drive.

The disk came on time, and the price was right for the times. The disk was well packaged and is obviously new from the packaging and authorization label on the disk. If you need a new 1 TB disk you will be well pleased with this purchase. No need to keep searching.

Fast delivery. Easy install. Double the performance of the old 500GB BarraCuda that it replaced.

06/27/2018 ... I installed this in my neighbor's laptop computer HP Pavilion 17-E098NR Notebook PC on 05/03/2018 and two months later there have been no problems except one of the updates to windows 10 prevented the laptop from booting but fortunately I made backups at each step with Acronis True Image 2018 using the bootable DVD. I delivered the laptop to my neighbors and it has been working fine. Traditional "Spinner" hard drive or SSD? I did a lot of research and decided the risk of a sudden failure or silently corrupted files was not worth the price no matter how fast SSD's run. PROS: Speed - Comparing the performance of the old hard drive I would say this is 30% or mor faster and lots more space - 250GB vs 1TB. System boots much quicker and programs start faster. The large cache memory seems to make the drive faster than it really is... more about this in "CONS" below. CONS: Speed - Fast as mentioned above BUT... there is some magicians slight of hand going on involving the cache memory. Ordinary read / write activites happen fast but large file copes start fast and slow way down. I partitioned the drive so that there was a D: drive - to store a backup inamge of the C: drive (I also put a copy on my home computer in case the entire drive failed). I was shocked at how slow a file transfer was from C: to D: (two different partitions on the same drive) it should normally be 1/2 the speed as it is a read and write operation. I also did a speed test of copying the same large files over my home network through and Ethernet cable and a usb drive. In all cases the drive has a speed burst then the cache memory runs out and the copy fell to speeds like 7 to 10 MB/s! - can't remember exact speeds. Most people don't do these types of file operations so it should not matter. I also bought the same 1TB drive (Except the 5.25" desktop version) at the same time from amazon for my Desktop PC and it did not have such dramatic slowdowns.

I have it set up as my C: drive and so far it is working perfectly. Much faster than my old SSD.

I've had good luck with Seagate drives - have had the same desktop PC for going on 13 years now, currently with 8 hard drives in it - I do some video editing, and almost never delete anything. Never had a disk failure or lost any data, but I routinely clone and swap out each drive about every 4 years or so, even if it's not giving me any problems.

I got this HDD as a part of my budget gaming build. Normally, I would've gone with WD, but the second I compared a WD Blue to this, my mind was made. The storage space, (1 tb) is more than enough for most people, and the read/write speed (the speed files are opened and saved/moved) is pretty decent for an HDD too. It typically averages around 100 mb/s, which for the price is hardly a bad deal tl;dr, if you need a good HDD with a lot of space and decent performance at an affordable price, this is the HDD for you.

Un peu trop tôt pour parler de longévité mais d'ores et déjà super rapport qualité prix ! A noter que l'épaisseur de ce disque est réduite par rapport aux "classiques" pour les nommer ainsi (d'ailleurs il me semble également plus léger) : si cela est dû a une meilleure utilisation des matières premières et à une préoccupation environnementale tant mieux. Enfin même constat que plusieurs utilisateurs : l'emballage est plus que sommaire ! Une pochette antistatique dans une enveloppe protectrice à bulles le tout se baladant librement dans un colis en carton plus grand contenant le reste de ma commande... :-( Ce n'est pas le packaging en soi qui me manque mais plutôt la crainte que le disque ne soit pas suffisamment protégé pendant le transport, un petit carton individuel à la bonne taille me semble nécessaire mais puisqu'il n'y avait pas d'objet métallique ou dur dans le reste du colis il n'y a rien à déplorer et il fonctionne très bien. En résumé : parfait pour un ordinateur familial. Que demander de plus ?! Un emballage adapté pardi...
