I wouldn't call this "heavy duty" but it's medium duty and a generally good deal for the price. Two small complaints; first the clear tubing the wire connections looks like heat shrink but it is not. I stock heat shrink tubing so not a big deal for me, just something to be aware of. Second, the crimp connections on the wire ends are huge, no where near as small as 16AWG. You could probably get 6AWG to fit in them (I didn't try so don't quote me). I probably should have just cut them off and used 16AWG butt connectors but instead I decided to use what it came with. I stripped my 16AWG wires that I would attach, doubled them over just to make them fatter and crimped with my professional crimpers. No way those crimps were tight. Fortunately, the barrels came with nice plating and I was able to solder them with ease, but again if you're not able to do this you might not get a good connection.

The fuse holder is well designed, that the order of the fuse and a little metal spring are not important, avoiding a pitfall, like when I recently tried a similar product, the center anode has much smaller footprint, so if I pressed it into the socket a little harder, the center connector falls within the circle of the metal spring and lost contact, which would be terrible for a mission critical system integration. This one has a rectangular metal well, holding either the fuse tube or the spring, this structure costs more, but it's error proof for the user. But the manufacturer needs to provide black heat-shrink tubes for the user to finalize the exterior. A minor dissatisfaction. ( I bought a pair of them before, so I know about this. )

Quality is good and feels decent overall. The led indicator light is a nice feature to be sure that power is present. Wiring is simple and straight forward. Would recommend to anyone trying to add an accessory to their vehicle.

I had a car-powered tire inflator that I really loved, but it had one Achilles' heel: the lighter plug was absolute garbage. I have no idea to this day why they decided to chintz on that one detail, when the rest of it seemed likely to survive a nuclear blast, but one day it came apart in my lighter socket, blew out the fuse in my car, and started a small fire. Awesome... So, that inflator sat unused for a year or two after that. I replaced the fuse in my car, and I kept looking at that inflator, trying to decide how to move on. It was sad for me to see it sitting lonely and unused in a corner of my garage. One day, I decided to investigate what it would take to fix it. I came across these, and placed my order. When I received them, I immediately noticed something simple this had that the original didn't: a screw holding the plastic shell together. AMAZING! Also, it has a light that tells you when the +12V is flowing. Bonus! I cut the wires, crimped the wires together, and applied copious heatshrink and covered the joint with the plastic sheath these came with, and yet more heatshrink, because I just don't want another fire. So far, so good! Works great, and I have absolutely no clue what to do with the second one. Now it sits in the corner of my garage, lonely and waiting for its turn to shine, when another accessory inevitably comes with a crummy lighter plug that needs replacement. Good deal for an heir and a spare to the throne of the King of the Lighter Plugs.

Solidly made, heavy gauge wires, substantial connector looks like will hold up over use.
