Can i put a drink in it with no ice being made?** A: I’m thinking you’re under the impression that this is a refrigeration unit. It’s not. It is a free standing ice maker only. It has a small compressor that makes ice rapidly. If there is no water in it it shuts itself off. When off it will not keep anything cool. The only time it’s cool or cold is when it’s making ice. **Q: Does this ice maker have to be attached to a faucet or is the water put directly into the machine?** A: You pour the water directly into the ice maker. No hookups. It has a "fill line" inside to show how much water to put in it.. **Q: how do you clean the parts you cant reach? there is mold in the back part under the metal elements** A: This answer is not particular to this machine. I used 2 of these ice makers in Germany for several years and found that using distilled water prevented mold growth. This was an accidental finding, after fussing to clean pink mold that kept growing. Never had anymore after using distilled. The return to the US postage cost was nearly as much as the purchase price. They agreed for me to keep the product and gave a full refund.
