The brim is somewhat firm to handle a light breeze. I deducted a star because the cord to tighten it around my head is useless. Fortunately, there is an inner band that can be tied with some trial and error. I put it in a mesh bag to machine wash it and it comes out perfect. I have a larger head and it fits well. I do with there were some type of insulation in the top to reduce radiant heat.
