I hadn't owned a pair in like 20 years, so I don't remember how I used to size them. Looking back, I think I just bought my regular waist and one size up in length, but I'm not sure. Anyway, the first pair I ordered (Rigid, STF) were sized up one inch in the waist and two in the length. I wear a 33x29, but usually buy 33x30 since 29L is pretty hard to find. I ordered the first pair in a 34x32, sizing up one in the waist and two in the length. I hot soaked them and they barely shrank at all, so I tossed them in the dryer. Still barely noticeable. So I hot soaked them again and put them in the dryer. Still not a good fit at all, and there's a weird bump over my tailbone. They're wearable, but just barely because they are still too big and I look like I'm hiding a tail stub over my butt. Now, on to this pair (burgundy): I just bought these in my usual size (32x30), wore them in a hot bath for 30 minutes, got out and let them drip dry on me, then hung them on a pinch hanger until they were almost dry but still damp. I put them on and wore them until they were totally dry, taking care to avoid bending over or bending my knees or anything. I just stood in my living room and watched the Super Bowl until they were 1005 dry. That was absolutely successful! These are the best-fitting pair that I own now, and I just ordered a pair of the black STFs that arrive tomorrow. I'm hoping that I can get the same result with this next pair; if so, I'll probably order another pair of the blue Rigids and donate the first pair to Goodwill or whatever. I used to know the woman in charge for their supply chain. When I mentioned that the jeans in Mexico are consistent but I’ve had to return 501’s from other countries, she did say that was true. This was 15 years ago so I would hope things have changed. I still only buy the ones from Mexico… **Q: what is the number of the same jeans with a zip fly** A: The 501 button fly Jean does not duplicate their fit with a zipper. Many say the 505 is the same with a zipper. Not true. Why Levi's doesn't produce the same fit with a zipper has always stumped me. The 501 button fly is one of the best fitting jeans on the market. To have the same exact fit with a zipper would be awesome. I hate fighting those buttons. **Q: Are these jeans shrink to fit or pre-washed?** A: The review from March 27, 2023 said the person received stretch jeans and not the Shrink to Fit jeans that were ordered. I ordered the 501's Shrink to Fit and when received, they were way to long per my requested size. I reordered a shorter size of 501's Shrink to Fit and received jeans that didn't even look like Levi Jeans Material/Denim. This second order was not what I ordered. Another thing, it said "MADE IN EGYPT." Since when? I am not happy about this and will send back to Amazon. It did say 501 Shrink to Fit. but that was crap because it was not the traditional material. SO BUMMED **Q: I have older 505 with a 15 inch leg openning. Which current Levi cut is closest to it?** A: The 502 is very similar with a tapered leg.
