These aren't all my favorite colors, but I bought this so that I could observe my progress over short bursts while learning to spin - it will work very well for those purposes!As for fiber content, the midnight blue is at least 50% alpaca, the plain gray is probably some kind of merino blend, and the variegated gray is definitely wool, but so wiry that I have to assume it is not merino. Of the six merino colors, some were MUCH less soft than others. The less-soft ones each had two or three bits of plant matter that needed to be picked out, but nowhere near enough to be a deal breaker.I got almost twice as much of the cornflower blue and the red as some of the others, but my package weighed 3.7 ounces and was still fairly fluffy on arrival.
