I have bought a light but it has no fixing brackets can i get these seperately

Mine did come with fittings. They are quite small and may have been overlooked when unpacking the light. I don't think you will be able to buy the fittings separately.

Plastic film covering seems to go underneath the tube - has anyone had difficulty removing it?

Yes sometimes it comes off easily and sometimes it’s very difficult to remove the clear film you just have to persist with it
