Surprised how good ,
Pleasantly surprised what a good pole for the money. Light weight but good enough backbone to bring in a large fish. It’s been tested as l caught a sturgeon and the pole was put to the test

Good rod overall
This is really good rod for the price. I went for the medium heavy. The medium action is really good for jigging and more finesse techniques like using a Chesapeake sabiki. I’ve caught loads of fish on this rod. Currently have it paired with a Diawa BG3000 and couldn’t be happier with the combo. I’ve caught everything from bluefish to small striped bass on this rod. Only issue I had is that one of the guides bent out of place a bit but I bent it back and it seems to be fine. For the price I paid, I wasn’t exactly expecting much but this is exceeded my expectations.

Broke when catching the very first fish
I have never seen an Ugly Stik rod break ever before and have used them since the late 90's. Took the rod on deep sea fishing trip the day after receiving it. Pulled up the first small rockcod (~1lb) and the tip snapped at about 4" from the tip. This is a 7ft, 1 piece rod. All previous Ugly Stiks have been very durable. It appears that this rod was built differently. It was just brittle. Let's put it this way, a bamboo stick will outlast this rod without any exaggerations. This is the last time I am buying a rod online and will now question the reliability of any rods as most are built with much lower quality out of China.

Good rod.
This rod really feels good in your hands and must be very strong as other Ugly Stik rods. I haven't tried it yet (that's why I gave 4 stars) but it's already geared for big fish. I'll update this review later.
