We got these to protect our new countertops, we just had installed. Very nice, silicone, large trivets that protect the countertop and look very nice in the kitchen. We can take things right out of the oven and place right on top of the silicone.

Perfect for both sides of the gas stove. Work as landing pad for hot things

I purchased this Large Silicone Trivet to use as a placemat on my genuine marble tabletop. I wanted a mat that I could take a hot glass bowl of instant oatmeal out of the microwave and sit it down immediately on without endangering my tabletop. And the same goes for cold things directly out of the freezer. But many designated Silicone placemats are way to thin for that purpose whereas this Silicone privet serve my purpose very well. As you can see in the picture, the shade of gray looks nice with my table. It protects my tabletop from damage caused by heat or cold. It's large enough to set a plate on and have space left over for condiments. It's not as thick as some but seems durable enough. I do not recommend that you take a 500 degree iron skillet off the cook top and sit it immediately on this privet. I'm well pleased with this trivet.

These mats are really nice. I had not previously used mats in my microwave, and now I’m wondering why. They prevent the clanging noise when placing dishes directly onto the glass turnstile, and now I often transfer hot plates and bowls using the mat rather than a glove or mitt. I usually use the smooth side down in the microwave for better slip resistance, but it can be flipped to the other side as well, which I have done on my countertops. I actually think both sides offer equal burn resistance. They store easily, rolled up in my kitchen drawer. Great investment, and well worthy money.

I have these in a smaller size and thought that I should also have a larger size. I use them as trivets, temporary dish drying pads and also to protect the counter from hot pans and pots. I’ve also used them as a buffer in a warm oven (-170 degrees) when I need to warm up plates for serving so that the plates don’t break on the hot rack. I’ve found that they temporarily warping a really hot pan is placed on top of them, like a hot LeCreuset, but that’s absolutely fine and to be expected as some of those pots get super hot. In that case I put a wood cutting board underneath the pad and th pot on top, or just use a heavy metal trivet instead. These do okay in the dishwasher but I choose to wash them by hand so I don’t get chalky residue on them. They live on my countertops. So handy. I wish them came in more colors at this size.
