Excellent value and quality

The drive was a replacement; easy to fit, re-installed OS, all works fine. Job done!

Plugged into the mini PCI slot on the motherboard and installed Windows 10 onto it no problem. Feels quite nippy for the age of the system. The system has 16GB DDR3 RAM and an i7 4770S CPU, and has been working well for light graphic design and video editing work with this SSD at the system drive. I don't think it has a large cache so you wouldn't want to do much shifting of large files, where it tends to drop to around 40MB/s. But as the boot/applications drive it does feel more than fast enough :-)

To be fair miniPCIE mSATA drives are a bit niche these days, mainly useful in small embedded systems. Read/write speeds were acceptable for the platform (about 480MB/s read and 280MB/s write on a brief test). The drive uses a Silicon Motion SM2259XT DRAM-less controller coupled to 2x256GB TLC NAND flash chips of unknown manufacturer, I guess the 1TB version uses 4x256GB flash, certainly there seems to be provision for two more flash chips on the top of the PCB. The lack of a DRAM cache means speed is less than devices with one, but seems to be broadly acceptable, as above. Oddly the components are mounted on what is officially the bottom side of a miniPCIe card, which caused slight head-scratching at first, but it works fine - just "upside down".

It only gets reported as "512gb ssd" (nothing related to brand), it can't be found in any SMART databases, smartmontools suggests it's got a generic 1tb firmware, it also reports as "m.2", serial number reported doesn't match sticker on item, blurry sticker and arrived in an m.2 box. Only one nand too... would kinda expect two for this drive. On the plus-side... it's 470GB ish. It appears new but the 'Total_LBAs_Written' part of SMART is turned off ! oh, and it's got a blue flashy LED. After digging around it seems to be a Netac 1TB, with a chip missing. I wouldn't trust it.

Actual size is 476 GB. Why do manufacturers not quote the actual size for windows systems. They always quote and use103 to define a kilobyte (1000 bytes) while windows uses 210 (1024 bytes) Write/read speeds as described

Ho utilizzato il prodotto (512 Gb) sia connesso alla porta Msata di un portatile datato, sia (tramite adattatore) ad una porta M.2 in standard Sata. Ovviamente non ha la velocità delle nuove unità NVMe (collegabili solo a computer recenti), ma i test confermano le prestazioni dichiarate. Ho acquistato il prodotto ad un prezzo particolarmente conveniente, e ne sono pienamente soddisfatto, ma anche a prezzo pieno costituisce a mio giudizio un acquisto valido.
