Great spatula and my husband's fave.

If I ever lose this I'll buy it again.
So good I bought it twice*(Update below). When I moved out of my apartment last year and left a room mate I forgot to pack this thing up. It was so important to my cooking that I immediately bought the same one. Every time I use my cast iron or stainless steel pan this guy comes out, screw the rest of the spatulas. only fish get an exception and that's because they're fragile weaklings that pretty much need their own delicate spatula. Warning to all though, my room mate taught me this through his mistake: The handle is only heat resistant to a certain temperature. not sure what it is, but a blazing hot cast iron skillet taught me that you can in fact melt the handle if you give it enough heat and time. Recommend not letting this rest in a pan when cooking. It wasn't a bad melted spot, it was really small, but it was just enough to be right where my index finger always wants to rest on this guy. it apparently sat in the pan a hell of a long time too, so I'm surprised it didn't melt all the way through, but hey, it won't melt on first contact at least. UPDATE ON ITEM 2: I'm buying two more of these, but my wife left the damn handle on the hot electric burner for like 5 minutes when someone called her at our new house and melted the handle to the stove and it's all screwed up, though I have to admit it sat on a full heat burner for a really long time and barely has any damage. The material the handle is made of is a lot more heat resistant than I originally though considering. The handle on our current spatula is annoying because it has the melted plastic pull-away rough edges but it's still solid otherwise, honestly it's only at the end. I'm going to actually just sand it down and round it out and it'll still be as useful as ever after a quick wash. Even after what would normally be catastrophic failure I'm still not throwing it out, I'm just going to clean it up and return it to service. This has been my favorite and easiest to clean spatula for standard cast iron work and I tend to work cast iron or pure stainless steel anymore, and even when I'm on the grill I will use this to flip burgers or patties. I wish I had photos of it in use but honestly I never think to do so. I do love that I can stick this to my spare and leftover magnetic knife mount next to the fridge that no longer holds knives. Holds the griddle/grill spatula just perfect since this is stainless steel. Timeline of my orders since I've had multiple now: First one was ordered January 2017 and loved it so much when my room mate took it I ordered another in March 2018, that one only just now got damaged because of my wife forgetting the handle on the already on burner at the end of November 2020, so I'm buying two more. It's cheap enough that I would buy it more often if it was destroyed because we neglected it, but it's durable enough that we haven't had to.

Solid tool
The stainless steel portion is very solid and sturdy, perfectly flat and has a nice sharp edge. I picked this because it is not too wide and has a rounded blade which helps when getting pizza out of a deep pan. I'm sure it will be good for stove-top and griddle use as well. I was slightly disappointed in the finish on the handle and edges of the blade though. The plastic was a bit sharp on the edges and the portion of the blade sandwiched in the handle had small burrs and there were also a few on the sides of the blade near the bend and elsewhere. I decided it deserved a second chance because of the otherwise good quality, so I spent a few minutes rubbing the handle edges and sides and the blade edges with a steel wool pad and it took care of all of the rough and sharp spots and did not degrade the appearance. They definitely could have done better with the finish, but after a little elbow-grease it's exactly what I wanted. It was a good price and other than the minor imperfections it is basically perfect. At only about 3 inches, it might be a little narrow for some jobs, but we'll definitely get a lot of use out of it and it feels like it is built to last.

I seasoned it
I like this for sure, but if you have cast iron or carbon steel you are familiar with seasoning. Turns out you can season stainless steel the same way if desired, but stainless does not rust like the other too. (Plus there is a way to make stainless non stick without seasoning ***) Anyway, I scrubbed this and felt food stuck to it more than it did to my cast iron. So I oiled it up with a paper towel(rag) and held it over the flame by hand just right so it got to the smoke point of the oil and it would start seasoning. So now I put one or two coats on. It’s not perfectly seasoned, still got a few spots especially near handle. But honestly, if you can tolerate the coloration on it, you basically clean it the same way you clean the cast iron. And it cleaned just as easy. ***- no body taught me this so Incase you don’t know. Stainless steel, can be “seasoned” (not same as cast iron in this part) but basically you just heat a pan and drop a few drops of water into the stainless steel pan. If the water sticks and burns off, the pan is not hot enough. Wait a tad longer. Then add more drops of water. If the water skates around the pan as if there is no friction, then it’s hot enough to add the oil, this way nothing touches the actual surface of the pan. Hence you can make stainless steel pans non stick, only you do this every time you cook.

Excellent hamburger turner.
Good weight and size. The sharp tip makes it good for turning and trimming. Slips under the burger or whatever with ease because the tip is thin. The larger size holds the whole thing. Again the tip is sharp so you can do some cutting with it.

Exactly what I wanted
I wanted a durable, commercial-quality flipper. Something with some heft to it, something I could use on my cast-iron and my grill. This was it - long enough that I don't need to burn the hair off my hand on the grill, but still small enough to be usable in a 10" cast iron pan.
