In my opinion I would wait a week and one shampoo. I hope you have strong, healthy hair in 2014. **Q: Can long hair safely be kept up in a clip while drying so product isn't dripping down my back? Or do I risk the whole clipped portion breaking off?** A: No it can NOT. Use a hairdressing cape and towel dry hair before hand so it doesn't drip down your back. separate your hair into quarters. Use a spray bottle and work it through with a combination before it gets sticky and dries. There's some great you tube videos for this product **Q: Is there a difference in the protein treatment & the two minute reconstructor?** A: Yes! The two step is a stronger and more time consuming treatment. The two minute stays soft and is done in the shower. I find the two minute isn’t enough for my high porosity hair. Two step requires heat and to allow the protein to harden in your hair. **Q: Do I have to use heat?** A: Yes. The heat is supposed to help the product penetrate hair. After a lot of research, I found many people recommending this (along with the Balancing Moisturiser). Apparently it’s an ‘OG’ in the natural hair community! I bought them separately as the the moisturiser bottle is significantly smaller in the kit, and I have A LOT of hair (less than before though). I wouldn’t say it is difficult to use, but you do have to follow the instructions to the letter: Wash your hair, apply generously on clean damp hair, allow to dry (preferably blow dry) until rock hard. DO NOT TOUCH OR MANIPULATE AT THIS STAGE! Rinse out thoroughly and follow with the Balancing Moisturiser. Application is messy, the solution is sticky, and it will get everywhere, but all of the pros outweigh the cons. My hair, which has never experienced breakage, was breaking off every time I brushed or washed it. After this treatment, I have had ZERO breakage whatsoever. It is extremely effective, one just has to be aware of balancing protein and moisture in their routine. I’ve used this twice, about 8 weeks apart, and will continue at the same interval until the bottle is finished. I may repurchase if necessary, or I may downgrade to a less intensive treatment like the Aphogee Hair Strengthening 2-pack, or the 2-min Keratin Reconstructor.
