It actually works really well, I had no problems typing on it and the mouse/trackpad function is superb, its actually better than the trackpad in my laptop as the laser projects a larger surface area on which to use it. The left/right clicks and scroll/drag gestures were pretty responsive and I had no problems adjusting to this way of mousing.The unit is very compact and easy to pair with my tablets and phone.The secret to getting it working well is to ensure you have a flat surface like a table to use it on, it really doesn't like obstructions like creases in a bedsheet etc. It works by using an infrared sensor that projects a beam just above the keyboard to detect where your fingers are, and if anything obstructs the beam it gets confused.The size of the keyboard is determined by where you place the device and you can make it pretty large if you want.I have only tested it indoors on a few very gloomy British days, and its plenty visible enough. Not sure how it would cope on a summers day however.If I had any complaints it would be the godawful noise it makes when you turn it off, you will be muting the volume on the device after the first few blasts of what sounds like a xylophone being throttled.All in all, for the money this is a great little device that would have cost over £100 a few years ago. If you like messing with cool tech, this is a no brainer.

This is a very geeky tool. Really cool.About the size of a box of matches, it projects a red virtual keyboard onto any straight and even non-reflecting surface. It does not work on glass or a mirror, but nicely on wooden desktops, melamine coated desktops, sheets of paper ... you get it.The keyboard itself is projected in laser-red, the brightness can be adjusted using FN-key combinations. Unfortunately, dark is too dark and full bright is about just bright enough to read the keys. It could really use a bit more brightness, but this would possibly take away from the battery time, which is relatively short - 120 minutes max.Since there is no haptic, tactile feedback, the thing beeps - rather annoyingly - everytime it thinks it has detected a key press. The volume of the beep is again adjustable, but the loudest setting is too loud and the lowest too loud still. Unfortunately, there is another issue with that. The shift key is rather a shift toggle. Why then a caps lock? I don't know.The worst drawback is about the layout of the keyboard. Full stop, comma and a few other well used keys are in very unusual places and they also have to be shifted. Annoying, really annoying.Add to that, that the detection rate of keypresses is good enough not to annoy you too badly, but not that good enough that you can actually type blindly, this is just on the borderline of being of an actual use.IMHO it just fell a few inches too short. A bit better and it would have been great, now it's just so-so.

It serves as an excellent, compact back-up to my notebook. Should the notebook battery die, I am up and running again in seconds.
