It’s a good nutcracker considering the low price. It’s a nice weight to be easily handled by kids.

Recieved quickly and packaged well. Simple to use and seem to be quite durable. They work well on pecans.

I actually use these nutcrackers for lobster and find the type that has a walnut-shaped opening pretty useless for lobster (maybe if you had a 6+ pound lobster they would work). I find that the straight sides of these nutcrackers allow me to crack lobster shells of different diameters, and presumably, the same for nuts. These do appear to be stainless steel, but since previous nutcrackers have rusted and their finish dulled, I have NOT put these in the dishwasher, and choose to wash them by hand to keep the sheen and smooth-ness. I'm assuming the smoothness also keeps possible bacterial contamination to a minimum. Anyway, I find them functional, attractive and reasonably priced. I didn't deduct stars due to my only complaint because it has nothing to do with the product per se. Initially, I only received two nutcrackers instead of the four I ordered and paid for, but a call to Amazon's customer service took care of that, and I received another two (plus four more picks) within a few days at no further charge. The picks, BTW, are sharp enough to be effective and equally attractive. I'm pleased with this purchase.

The metal is solid and the hinges work smoothly, but the handles are just too short to hold walnuts and do not grip smooth nuts such as hazelnuts. They are not strong enough to crack hard shells like Brazil nuts. Longer and heavier handles are needed,
