Teach toddlers safe ways to express big feelings Toddlers are still learning how to speak, socialize, and understand their emotions. It's common for them to react with their hands when they get frustratedโbut hitting is never okay. What to Do When You Feel Like Hitting helps toddlers understand why hitting is not allowed and shows them how to react to their feelings with actions that are safe and kind. This illustrated entry into no hitting books for toddlers features: Alternatives to hitting โKids will learn how to use "gentle hands" to squeeze a stuffed animal when they feel upset, scribble a picture to get out their frustration, and practice taking deep breaths to calm down. A light touch โThe language is kid-friendly and positive, encouraging toddlers to understand and communicate their feelings, not just keep their hands to themselves. Engaging illustrations โBig, beautiful pictures help kids see the ideas in action and keep their attention on the page. Ok
Pretty good, maybe a little bit too long, my 3 year old just manages to sit through it. It does have simple good ideas for little ones to manage their anger

Brilliant!!!
Brilliant book, my daughter loves it (2 year old). I love how it shows emotions with children and people instead of characters or animals

Brilliant book!
I don't usually write reviews but this book is brilliant! My two children have constant arguments that cause my youngest to get distressed and hit. This pattern of behavior has continued though out the pandemic and has been very tricky for the whole family. This book gives very simple strategies for a child to calm themselves down (as well as teach me a thing or two to help!). I am going to make a poster of this to put up so that we can refer back to it when needed. I follow gentle parenting and am also very keen on helping my children navigate their tricky emotions. Highly recommend this book!

Amazing book!
I bought this for my daughter to read to my 2 year old granddaughter who was going through a phase of hitting! She loves books so thought this was best way to get through to that her behaviour was not acceptable. They read the book every evening before bed - the hitting stopped and she could relate to her feelings. Who would have thought that a book could have such a positive effect in such a short amount of time but it worked!
