A thing of beauty
I love Global knives - all of them. The value is phenomenal. This bread knife is no exception. It does a good job with bread but where it really shines - BAGELS! I have cut myself numerous times using small or dull knives trying to slice a bagel. This Global bread knife cuts them open with little to no effort. Very crusty bread - not a problem! I have had this knife for about a year and its as sharp as the day I got it so its very durable.

Great Knife!
I ordered a Global Santoku knife a while back from a recommend in a knife forum. Turns out it was a great knife, and it quickly became my wife’s favorite kitchen knife - we had Zwilling/Henkels for the most part before I got these. They’re light weight, keep the edge for a reasonable amount of time (they all get dull, these commercials for the “world’s sharpest knife!” are silly, whack stuff up on a cutting board, go through some turkeys and roasts and it’s as dull as the $4 knife at the dollar store). They’re kitchen knives, so rust really isn’t an issue. They’re also lightweight (I believe on the bigger knives, the handle has a hollow cavity) – it’s all one-piece construction, so no handles coming off or getting damaged or destroyed by washing or leaving it too close to a burner. For Christmas I decided to replace all of our Zwilling/Henkel knives with Global knives. I ordered them à la carte – like everybody else, Global’s big sets had more than I needed and not enough of what I wanted, so if you see this review in multiple places, that the reason. Anyway, the 8.5” bread knife is very nice, functional and worth the money.

Make Bread Fear You
I am going to own my bias front and center. I love Global knives. I own several and they are all fantastic. However, I almost didn't buy this bread knife after making easy work of a french baguette at my sisters using a cheap electric knife. I just wasn't sure if even a Global product could get such thin pieces of bread without damaging the structure. Purchasing this knife was the right choice. Per the usual, the weight of blade feels amazing in your hands. Most impressive for me is that it feels great for me (comically large hands) as well as my significant other (small hands). The real star of the show is how efficiently and smoothly the knife cuts bread. I've used it with a variety of styles and each one has been effortless. I even once used it to cut a piece of precut sandwich bread into two thinner pieces. Overall, if you like Global knives you will not regret this purchase, thin or thick it does a great job of cutting bread.

This thing is a beast.
One might wonder if it's worth it to pay for a fancy bread knife. After upgrading to the Global from a common grocery store bread knife I can definitely say yes. This thing will rip through a stale loaf of tough French bread with just a couple of strokes. It's dangerously sharp but that's a good thing in my book. I'm not sure how I'll sharpen it, but after several months of use that I have not seen any sign of it loosing it's edge. It is comfortable to hold and use, I have large hands but my daughter also likes it.

Excellent Bread Knife. Powerful Long Serrated Blade
I love this knife. It was a pricey purchase, considering I began to make bread at home to save money and be in control of what goes into the bread I feed my family. But this knife makes slicing my loaves so enjoyable, it was worth it. The long Serrated cuts quickly cleanly. It doesn't squish soft bread or break up crusty bread. And it's so easy to get even slices. Careful though, the blade is super sharp! I love Global knives. This one had the great Global "dimpled" handle. I am really happy to add this bread knife to my growing collection.

VERY Sharp and attractive.
We have other Global knives in this G-9 style so this is a nice match. Met all of our expectations for a Global knife. Sharp, nicely weighted without being to heavy and fits our hands comfortably. Blade length is ideal for breads and bagels. Cuts cleanly in a few strokes.

Like you guessed it
Professional Chef for 20 years, I will buy and use any global knife with ease. If you are looking for a beginner knife set you only need 2 knives. One serrated and one chef knive. This bread knife can be used for soft, spongy type products. Like you guessed it, bread and tomatoes come to mind. As far as a second knife I would suggest Global G-48 - 7 inch, 18cm Santoku Hollow Ground Knife. After that its w/e your pretty little mind thinks it needs :p. So why Global? They are light weight, easy to grip, easy to sharpen and hold their edge far longer then any cheap knife. The part that sold me is how it feels when it cuts. Just can't replicate that. Anybody that has cut things for 20 years will know what I mean!

Sharp and well made.
I always wanted a nice set of knives and found Global. For a birthday or holiday I’ll buy myself one. This is the bread knife and it is amazing. Besides bread, I use to slice larger vegetables. My set is growing.

The light sabre of bread knives
Bought as a gift - my partner described it as a “light sabre cutting through bread”. Super sharp and the high quality we expect from Global knives.

ANOTHER WINNER!
just purchased the bread knife to add to my global collection. Very impressed. Does the job well, looks smart, and completes my set...(for the meantime) when I can afford to buy the meat clever I just might treat myself! Delivery and packaging all A+!

Excellent for left-handers too!
Very fine quality. Great for sourdough - and left-handers! As an extreme left- hander,I've found that dept-store bread knives are not bevelled finely enough for us to cut evenly. This one does - well worth the price!
