Does not increase NAD levels. Causes night sweats for some reason. Most likely needs to be purified better for contaminates.

I have purchased high-quality French Maritime Bark in the past and this doesn't have the correct smell or dark look to it. No scent is a dead giveaway for low quality. I would have given this a lower rating; however, I have never had a problem with Nutricost's quality. I just hope it has some active ingredients. But it just looks like talc and floor sweeping and is too dry to have any plant oils

I am a post-menopausal woman. A couple of years ago, out of the blue, I started getting hit with Proteus mirabilis bladder infections, one after another. The doc was hesitant to prescribe antibiotics for a recurring infection, which was a literal sore disappointment to me. The bacteria count didn't even have to be that high for me to suffer pain severe enough to send me to the ER twice. I learned later that this is because post-menopausal bladders have been made more sensitive by decreased estrogen. We HURT. For a while, I subscribed on Amazon to bladder pain pills because of the frequency of the painful infections, but you're not supposed to take those for too long, either. Somehow, I stumbled across the information that pine bark extract contains far, far more proanthocyanidins (the active ingredient in cranberry pills that makes the lining of the bladder less sticky so that bacteria cannot colonize there) than even the strongest cranberry pills that are sold for $50 a bottle. On a hunch, I ordered a bottle of these. (Happily, they cost a lot less than the aforementioned cranberry pills.) That was two years ago, and I haven't had a single bladder infection since. I take one every night before I go to sleep because I want that sitting in my bladder overnight, guarding it. That is MY experience; I am not a healthcare practitioner. Ask your healthcare provider to be sure. But for me, they've been a godsend.
