Will an alarm go off if a certain sound level is reached? Need this feature for my son.

There is an alarm feature but it is not very loud to hear it if the unit is setup more than 5ft away. When a level is set the numbers will blink/flash for about 10secs to notify you that dB level has been exceeded which i like better than an alarm. Hope this helps.

What do you suggest to mount the unit on a wall using the threaded connector on the back? Is that a standard male camera-style threaded screw?

I used a pair of common push pins. Put the plastic parts in the holes, take a piece of paper and push it onto the pin parts. Use a level to make sure the holes in the paper are level, push in the pins, rip off the paper and hang the meter. 5 minutes.

Does this device allow for a data download onto a computer?

525A does not support, 525B supports data synchronization to the computer,

GREAT PRODUCT - AWESOME BRAND RESPONSE

I've had a wonderful experience purchasing this product so far. It works perfectly. We're using ours to keep track of the noise we make in our backyard to be respectful to our neighbors. Also, if we ever do get a noise complaint, I love that I can run the report to determine if we were ACTUALLY being loud. Combined with our RING camera system... it's perfect! Since the only version of the software that comes with it is on a small disc requiring a disc drive, which no modern computer has anymore, I emailed SNDWAY, the manufacturer, NOT THE SELLER, and asked them to please email me the software. Within one day, they responded with a download link. It's in Chinese but a simple Google Translate solves that issue. THANK YOU SNDWAY!!!

Over Sensitive Neighbors

Appears to work fine, roughly accurate compared to my cheapo handheld unit. I put mine where my Nest cam can see it so that when my neighbor complains again I have proof that things are at a reasonable volume.
