My husband installed one in our old house and it was a few hundred dollars. This was so much cheaper and just as strong! The door on it is old and solid wood. Very heavy. It rolls so easily. I installed this myself and while I've watched my carpenter husband do stuff like this, I'd never done it myself, but I had no problems! I wanted a triple barn door, but didn't want the track to stick out so far, so I installed two doors on a bypass closet track ($15 at lowes) in the doorway, and the last door on this single barn door track mounted over a 1x6 pine board with 3.5 inch interior wood screws. The result is perfect! I can push all three doors to either side at the same time to have a very wide opening. I get lots of compliments! The only downside is the track itself came in two pieces and fit together in the center like a puzzle piece, but without a second person to hold it up, that part was tough but I still got it. Put a pulley on the end of the rail, a small cable, and a small weight on the cable. If there are no casings around the door you can get away with securing railing directly into the studs. I wouldn't trust only using wall anchors (even heavy duty ones) to support the rail/door. **Q: Is a 4.75" clearing from my ceiling to the top of the door frame enough space?** A: I have one installed where rail mount bolts are 4.5” on center from ceiling. There’s maybe 5/8” clearance to hang/remove door. It’s tight. If you could slide the door on to the rails from the side you might be able to get rail bolt centers as close as 3.75” from top based on what I’m looking at but I’d dry fit before committing **Q: My door is only 1 inch thick.
