I read all the reviews with the luke warm praise of Irwin tools and guys you are not buying Snap On so let us not compare a $ 79.00 per set tool maker to a $79.00 per tool from a precision tool supplier. For the Average Joe/Jane these Irwin tools are great, for me the oversized grip is bulky but for my wife, it is the first time she has actually put a wrench on nut and turned it until it was loose, imagine the look on her face- now she thinks she is Tim " the Tool man" Taylor. Since then she has fixed a door knob and tried to reseat the garbage disposal. That one crank changed her confidence in herself. The irwin set is better than anything you can buy for the price especially with a soft grip.and variety. As for the 3 different size grove lock well you and I may have the hand size to accommodate a 1.5 inch nut on a 10inch wrench but a women with small hands may need that 12 inch wrench to torque that nut. Irwin's sure grip tooth pattern means she will get the torque if she has the right tool. And with this Irwin 8 piece grove lock the right tool is at your side. For a utility set this is an excellent purchase. Everyone needs a good set of linesman pliers, needle nose, wiresnipes, and adjustibles as a base to any project-this set surpasses the store brands in quality and durability and comes with a lifetime warranty. It is not SNAP ON, MAC, PERCISSION or MAACO or GRIZZLY but If you are a professional and your are doing professional work, making professional money -do what real professional do -Go get yourself a set of professional tools. Otherwise lets compare apples to apples I use these on my cars, truck, boats and home and would recommend them without hesitation. I own the 8 piece set 7 piece set and the ergonomic pliers- good quality.I believe in the right tool for the right job and at this price its affordable.

Update 3/3/18 - set of tools I go to every time. I have many pliers and such, theses are comfortable to use and made strong. I bought this set for the slip joint pliers that have a unique adjustment where you can put jaws on the nut and then adjust the width to match the nut. The set has 3 of those with all 3 very handy and working perfectly. The metal of these tools is properly heat treated and very hard on the surface as it suppose to be. When I grip a steel pipe, pliers will cut into pipe surface to hold it tight. Many cheap tools will destroy their inner jaw grooves very quickly because they are not properly hardened, but not these Vise-Grip set. Chinese import or not is not the main characteristic of tools anymore. You can get good quality if the tool is made right and these are definetely well made. Nearly identical slip joint pliers from other manufacturers, I recall seeing British or German made, cost $50-$70 each where this whole set was somewhere in-between and it includes 3 of those slip joint pliers. These are not made, like toys, with every surface polished for the perfect look, but they are well made where it counts with all parts working perfectly as is. I give 5 stars because you cannot get a better set for this price and there is no tool at any price that will work any better.

I ordered this set based upon reading various reviews, which isn't always proof of quality unless the number of reviews is large. So, after having studied plenty of similar tools and comparing what reviews were offered, I decided to take the chance and purchase this set. It arrived today, so I immediately checked out each piece for more obvious signs of quality, then I tested them on a few items for ease of use and functionality. I was totally impressed by the weight and size of each item, which gave me the impression that they will hold up under extremes of torque or other heavy use. I was also very impressed with the release and set buttons on the channel locks, which had always been the one problem using such tools that we had accepted as normal. When going after larger nuts and bolts, for example, we had to often reset the locking position once we reopened the grips for another turn. Now, with this set, that position remains intact, never changing until we push the release button for another setting. I must add that I like the folding storage unit supplied with this set, which folds nicely and has two stetchable loops to hold in in place. It goes easily into my large tool bag, leaving the individual pliers secured rather than spacing them out into the bag's various compartments. When I need a plier or cutter, I just grab the folding bag and pick what I want, glad that all my choices will be right there at the same time. Since purchasing from Amazon, I have been quite impressed, even though some individual products might not be up to snuff. These problems are not the fault of Amazon, of course, but from the various manufacturers who supply the endless number of like products from which we make our choices. What impresses me is that Amazon never tries to hide any negative comments or reviews, showing them up front and honestly, making sure we feel as though we're the most important parts of their business, not those who simply want our money. I've bought several other tools, along with other products in other categories, and feel comfort in that what I bought was my decision, not any cleverly worded piece for which Amazon was responsible. It was left up to me to peruse the reviews and study the advertising by the various companies, so when a choice was made, it was with an educated mindset based upon my willingness to take the time before ordering. Great packing and concern for each order is always obvious to me when dealing with Amazon, so I will always look there first when I have a need for yet another purchase. I love this set of tools, at least thus far, and I would recommend them to anyone I know. Just remember, those of you who have been disappointed with any products you have purchased here, that it is your resonsibility to study an entire line of like products before you purchase. Each review and even the manufacturer's description, all read in order to get a good feel of the product, should be done before placing any order. I have found that just the name of a company isn't always proof that the item will be satisfactory, but the compilation of reviews and other descriptions can often be the best source of information needed to rate it.

As a new homeowner and someone still recovering from growing up with a few of every useful tool and being on my own, I am continuing to build my tool collection. This set was a nice way to expand my tools and duplicate a few. I grew up using all the old made in the U.S.A. tools that with basic care last a lifetime. These are not those tools, but compared to many of the brands you can get at big box stores for reasonable prices, these are higher quality and I am reasonably confident they will last a very long time with average use. All the tools are solid and have put up to the various abuses I have given them without any harm. I am impressed with the actual GrooveLock pliers as they are nice improvement over the basic design which can shift when you are working in awkward spaces. The diagonal (wire) cutters work fine for home wires and such. I have a pair of higher quality cutters and strippers for handling multi-strand and fine wire. My one gripe is the bulk of the handles. For the adjustable wrench it is exceptionally awkward (as I have already mentioned in a review of a full set of those) IRWIN Tools 4 Piece 6-Inch Long, 8-Inch Long, 10-Inch Long and 12-Inch Long Adjustable Wrench Tray Set (2078706) For the rest of the set they seem needlessly larger than they need to be and on a few occasions that extra girth can get in your way for tight spaces. For the rest of the tools other than the adjustable wrenches, the handles are more comfortable and less bulky though so not a major detriment for me. The tool roll was a nice plus and I ended up swapping out some other tools and it lives in my tool chest. to save space. Overall, while the quality is not the same of some of the older tools I grew up using, for today these seems sturdy and more than enough for even an avid DIY'er. If you earn your money with these tools, probably worth spending the extra money on the exact ones you want from best brands, but otherwise this is a solid set.

This is a great set of tools with the best channel-lock pliers on the market. The tool assortment is perfect for a great assortment of jobs, and the case makes it very convenient to be sure that you have all the needed tools with you. The grips on the tools are very comfortable and the fit of the tools in general is very nice. If I could change anything about this set, I would change the case to include a flap to fold over the top of the tools. As it stands, the tools will fall out of the case if you carry it with the open end down. I accidentally did that just tonight, in fact. I have other multi-sets of things such as files and things of that nature that have a flexible case like this, but there is a flap that folds over the top to keep items from falling out. This would be a good change to this set. With that minor concern noted, I will still give this set a five-star rating and a HIGHLY RECOMMENDED notation.

I was shopping for something else when I saw this set and recognized it in the search results. When I opened up the product detail page I could see the Amazon purchase reminder that I bought this set back in 2014 and even have the original roll bag they came in. This set of pliers has served me very well over the years and I felt I owed the Irwin company a good product review. These pliers are very durable and the entire set will handle virtually any DIY job for the average homeowner. If you add a good set of electric pliers to the mix you have everything you could possibly need. The adjustable jaw 'groove lock' or more commonly called 'channel lock' pliers are probably what I use most often. Take care of the pliers and they will last for years. - I oil mine periodically with WD-40 just to keep them from rusting and functioning well. I also adjust the tension between the jaws to my personal preference which varies depending on the type of plier.

A marca por si só já diz tudo. Produtos da IRWIN são, em sua grandíssima maioria, muito bem construídos e acabados e com esse kit não poderia ser diferente. O produto veio numa caixa, que especifica cada componente dentro do pacote. A caixa em si é de papelão e, como qualquer caixa, não servirá por muito tempo. Mesmo assim, o produto vem com uma espécie de "bolsa" para acomodar as ferramentas cuja embalagem revela ser um bônus. Ela é bem construída e costurada, apresenta 8 espaços para guardar as 8 ferramentas. Na porção do meio, existe uma espécie de lona emborrachada que consegue segurar as ferramentas mais firmemente e evitar que elas raspem no material da bolsa. As ferramentas são seguradas por um material trançado que se assemelha àqueles de mochila para guardar garrafas ao lado. Ela é fechada por dois elásticos que me parecem ser frágeis e tendem a ceder com o tempo, todavia isso é detalhe e pode ser trocado com o tempo. Sobre as ferramentas, achei a qualidade sensacional, principalmente nas chaves de bomba (vieram 3!). Uma pequena marca foi encontrada decorrente do processo de usinagem no cabo do alicate ajustável, mas nada que comprometa o uso ou que vá fragilizar a peça em si. Todas as ferramentas possuem o cabo VISE-GRIP, eles são bem macios para realizar apertos ou manipular as ferramentas e facilitarão o trabalho para quem usa mais frequentemente. Ainda não testei o corte dos alicates, embora me pareçam afiados e muito bem construídos. De todo modo, como comprei para reparos domésticos e para uso caseiro, acredito que irão me durar muito tempo, ainda mais após lubrificar as peças com WD-40 para desengripar e mantê-las novas mesmo guardadas. Uma pequena ressalva é o peso do kit. Como são muitas peças, ele pesa um pouco e carregá-lo pode ser um pouco incômodo se houver mais ferramentas junto. Em suma, eu recomendo bastante pela qualidade dos materiais!

Excellent quality kit with all the tools I needed in carry pouch. Good quality steel and slightly wider jaws compared to other similar brands. The wider jaws offer more grip with less hand tension making it more comfortable to use.

Great price for everything in kit.
