1-2-3 Magic for Kids: Helping Your Kids Understand the New Rules

The best book to help you raise kids, firmly but fairly.

I bought this as a companion to 1-2-3 Magic. My five year old son enjoyed reading it with me. It is a chilren's story version of 1-2-3 Magic. It was wonderful to have 1-2-3 Magic explained to him through this children's story version of the book instead of having me try to explain it. In the book, a little girl tells her friend about how 1-2-3- Magic works. It goes through the basics in a way that is easy for a child to understand. 1-2-3 Magic has worked wonders for my family. I am very happy that I purchased this book with the original.

If you have children, you must have this book! It is so easy for kids to read and really makes an impression on how they can participate in a happy healthy home. It is critical that parents have the original book, 1-2-3 Magic and the workbook that goes with it as it gives tools that give life to the plan. We love it and after having the books for only a short time we are seeing amazing progress. Our kids, 9 & 10, devoured the book and have been willing to put it into practice. Get this and happy parenting!

Time will tell how well the program itself works, but this book SELLS it to kids. I wish I had read it myself first because there were certain parts that I kinda planned to implement differently. On the fly I read it verbatim and now I guess I'm committed to trying it 100% as it was meant to be, which is probably a good idea anyway. We can make adjustments later (if needed) after trusting the system... similar to strictly following a recipe the first time you make it. Kids seem to like that it feels we are both giving things up. When they heard "123 Magic means no more yelling or spanking" they looked at me like, 'you sure you can handle this?' We'll see kids, we'll see.

Helpful guidance in establishing rules and providing reinforcement. A nice followup to the earlier 1, 2, 3 method. Try it -- you just mind find that employing the language and the reinforcements does the trick. Even when I step away from "magic" I tend to go back and apply the rules again. Very helpful.

This book is great for helping your child understand and see it from a childs point of view. Its presented like a fun story book. It just happens to be telling a very important story about the lesson of behaving in a positive manner. I have to admit that it also helped me to better understand how to apply the lessons in the adult version to my son and our issues. Now we are happier and read the book regularly at bedtime especially if we had a rough day.

When all else fails, this is the book and method to rely on. Very easy to learn and apply instantly for parents and kids. It is unique in that it is designed to be a child's book as well as a parent resource. I read together with my 3yr old and discussed the pics and text, he was interested in the dynamic between the 2 girls in the story and asked to read it for several nights. He was excited that he was a part of the solution and that he had a responsibility as did I as a parent. This book helps illustrate that responsibility and makes it come to life. It is not designed to rid your family of problems all together rather a calm way to handle problem situations as they arise and allow both kids and parents to exercise self control in the heat of the moment. Worthwhile in every aspect!! Try it and you will see a difference in yourself and your kids!!

More for older kids. My 4 year old doesn't want to listen when I read it. We haven't made it very far in the book though.

Worth reading.

This goes well with the book for adults This is a great success in the US though people may be a little ary of it here However it seems to work very well and as long as parents stick to the rules and get others such as grand-parents etc involved it seems to work. This book aims at getting the kids on board to, with explanations and things to do - and should be an nice adjunct to the adult book. I think though that it will take an adult to work through it with them.

Great for getting children to understand the concepts of 1-2-3 magic and to get them to engage with the process.

Bought this for my 6 years old. She read it in 2 days and followed the rules. Amazing. It worked for us. I got the adult version for myself.

Brilliant book! My 7 year old son loved reading his version while we read the adult version. More child discipline books should have a companion kids version. It saved me having to explain it to him as he read and understood the new rules straight away.
