## Description

SF 302-08P 8-port 10/100 PoE Managed Switch with Gig Uplinks

Review: Nice POE switch with 8 POE ports. Perfect as long as you don't need higher voltage. - Bought a few of these for use with IP phone systems. It's one of the cheaper options for a managed switch with 8 ports of power. Do note that it only has 62 watts available and I don't like getting really close to the maximum wattage. There is a SF302-08MP that has 124 watts available! It's POE, not POE+ so a max of 15 watts per port (up to the 62 watts total still). It's also one of the few switches that has 8 actual POE Ports. Since you have 2 more ports for uplink and downlink, you actually get 8 POE ports! I have a couple of these on sites where we have 8 phones of about five watts each plugged into these. We've used them for years without a hiccup. It's got good managed options too. In my usage, I'm just setting up vlans, so I'm not doing anything special with them. But they work. And they've worked for a couple years without skipping a beat!
Review: I hate it - only lasted two months working, now will not start da source voltage but the switch does not turn on.

### ⭐ I hate it

only lasted two months working, now will not start da source voltage but the switch does not turn on.

### ⭐⭐ Great affordable POE enabled router, prefect for IP cameras. - SEE EDIT
*by E***M on September 13, 2012*

I have purchased 10-15 of these so far and they have worked perfectly every time. I am using these for IP security cameras and they fit what I needed perfectly. The managed interface is nice to see whats going on if I have a camera go offline I can remotely power cycle the camera and such saving me a lot of time. Plenty of power for all the IP cameras I have ever personally used, though there is version that ends in MP (max power) for anyone who needs more power from the POE ports. I have several running all eight ports with cameras on them and have never had an issue. Firmware is nice, and you can have a backup image of the firmware so you have a fallback if you decide to tweak something and do something wrong. Never had to use it but it is nice that it's there. Some of my switches are in locations with no heat or cooling and so far so good over a year or so of use. My only wish was that it used a normal PC style power cord and not a power brick, but I'll survive that I guess. EDIT - I can not recommend these switches any more and wanted to update this review to reflect what I've experienced. At this time I've now have 6 of these fail completely and need replacement. I have one in my office now, and another coming back today. One has only lost one port, the one coming back today has no power at all any longer. This has been the same issues with all that have failed, either no power or bad ports. Replacement units from Cisco have arrived next day, and that is great, but it would be even better to not have to mess with a replacement at all! A secondary problem comes from the switch having to be power cycled to get a single camera back up. A camera will quit, it will work for hours or days, then drop. Power cycling the switch remotely fixes it temporarily every time. Moving the camera to a new port does not fix it, and another camera on that port will work fine, but that one camera will continue to fail. To be clear, the switch will have 6-7 of the exact same camera on it, and only a single camera will have this issue. When I replace the Cisco switch with a ZyXel the issue goes away completely. No other changes are done besides replacing the switch. I have tried everything on the Cisco switch, new firmware, making the camera having the issue be the highest priority for POE, turning off green Ethernet and the like. Literally tried everything, the fix it to remove the Cisco switch completely. With the high failure rate and the other issues I cannot recommend these any longer, my ZyXel switches have none of these issues and they are used in the exact same applications and environments.
