Water Heater Blanket Insulation System, Energy Star Certified, R value-7.1

This winter I noticed every time I went into the garage, my gas water heater was running or would turn on shortly. I tried this and so far so good. My water heater. The water heater runs far less frequently. Before, the heater was cold to the touch due to the garage temps being very cold. Now, it feels like inside room temperature to the touch which means it’s retaining more heat. The installation process is straightforward and simple. A little time consuming to do properly but, not bad at all. I spent a little over a hour. The pieces are precut which help the ease of installation. I only used sections of the self adhesive strips. 2-3 inches on each end and a 2-3 inch strip in the middle. Then I secured the rest with the supplied foil tape. I saved a photo of the sticker on the water heater that contains instructions/specifications. I’ll add to this if there’s a substantial reduction in the gas bill because this months cold bouts are similar to last months.

Great fit. A little tricky to install, but the best way I found is to outline your holes to cut first, cut your holes around the electrical components, then align around the water heater with the tape strips intact. Tape it to the water heater and mark the position. Once it's in position, then remove the tape strip cover on the bottom first, then do the top after you adjust it, because it is very sticky and will be a little difficult to maneuver around the water heater. Works really well, and the water heats more quickly. Our water heater is outside, and it really helps insulate it by keeping the heat in. Looks really nice and shiny. The included aluminum tape is helpful to tape over any overlapping seams, or you can use your own.

When ordering this product make sure to consider your tank size. The product is advertised as fitting "all" hot water heaters from 30 to 60 gallons, when it should read "most". My 50 gallon tank is really small in diameter compared to most, but is a really tall tank. The product only covered about 2/3 of my tank; however the company worked with me in providing the additional material to cover the rest of the tank. The product seems solid and easy to work as far as installation. Mine took longer to install than is cited on the instructions; but as I noted my tank is taller so it took more cutting and piecing together. Also my tank is in the corner of my garage, which was more difficult to work around. That was my issue not the manufacturer's.

Fits well. Take your time and the results are very satisfactory.

My mistake was not to look at the measurements too closely. It said fits all 30-60 gallon tanks. I have a 50 gallon Rheem. It's tall and slender and in a niche in the garage several feet of the ground. I can't reach all the way around it. Bottom half I can get around but top half won't go around because it's too close to the wall. I'd have to wrap from front to back and leave open a few inches in the back. I'm also worried that I can't pull off the tape while trying to get the cover around the back of the heater or pull off the tape and cover gets stuck in the wrong place or position. I haven't tried it yet while alone. Too pricey to mess it up and hard to do by yourself if the heater is not free standing. I can already tell the top piece will not fit either. I have more pipes coming out the top, so I'd have to cut more openings. The 2 pieces together is also shorter than my water heater. There should be some left over going around and I hope it's enough to fill in the missing part.

Easy to install. Fit my hot water tank perfectly. Since my hot water tank is accessed through an outside door having adequate insulation increases the efficiency of the hot water tank and saves on propane consumption.

Start by putting jacket on from the top of the water heater. I've never done this before and had no one to help me. Patsy
