Try and make sure you have some airflow around it, it may be fanless, but it probably could have used one, or at least used a larger chassis with some fins for heatsinking. It gets uncomfortably hot to the touch, not enough to damage anything, but I wouldn't want to have to pick it up bare handed without letting it cool down after unplugging. That being said, it does its job just fine, and gives me a 2.5G section of my network, hence the full 5 stars. Fanless switches do tend to run hot in my experience, even 1G ones, so I'd say that it is entirely as advertised, just proportionately more toasty.

Just upgraded to a multi-gig fiber internet service. The router that came with the service only had 1 multi-gig port. Thankfully i was able to get one quickly, and have not had any issues with it. Runs a little hot, but that is to be expected. I ended up buying a second one and still have had 0 issues after almost 6 months.

I does what I wanted it to. It provides high speed connection to my audio-visual devices. No noise since it is low power and has no fan. Setup was easy, the size was compact and the shell is made of aluminum which will help with dispersing heat.

This switch works as advertised, but it does get really hot, under normal condition, top of the case hot spots would be up to 98F/36.7C (room temp at 72F), and the bottom can get up to 125F/51.7C (measured with a General RIT207 infrared thermometer. To keep it cooler, I ended up putting a low profile all copper server cpu heatsink underneath it (bare contact) and it brings the temp down to about 105F at the bottom. This model consumes more power at idle and in operation compared to many other 5-port 2.5Gb switches, and internally has more heatsink as well, but it gets really hot so I would make sure you put it somewhere with good airflow. It is the cheapest I could find on Amazon and as long as I can get the heat under control I will keep using it.

I had an older hub and the ports maxed out at 10/100. Since we now have fiber to our house this upgrade was a must for connection from my PC's to the switch. I saw immediate positive results. At the time of writing this review I've been using the Zyxel Unmanaged Switch for nearly two months with no issues. Very easy to install and works as advertised.

I don't often bother with unmanaged switches, but I had a small bottle neck that I needed to clear up and a couple machines that had 2.5GB capable NICs. Even though the links upstream are still 1GB, this switch did the trick to clear up my bottle neck, and to provide fast connectivity between the few machines w/ the 2.5GB NICs. Just plug it in and go; nothing to it.

This unit absolutely delivers what it promises.

Dead after only 10 months..

Didn’t make it very long stopped working after a few hours of use and would no longer power on, tried a new power supply without any success.

it worked for a month and a half and it no longer works, bad product.. DON'T BUY
