## Description

The Midea Cube dehumidifier has a unique lift-and-twist design that offers unparalleled flexibility and capacity: when operating in extended form, it has up to 3 times more water tank capacity than traditional dehumidifiers and can run longer without the hassle of frequently emptying the tank; when in nested or drain form, the unit is half the size allowing compact storage or flexible draining. It can fit into most rooms and maintain the desired humidity level in your home. The patented sensor and wi-fi enabled app allow you to monitor the humidity and water level, all at your fingertips. With multi-directional air intake and up to three different fan speeds, it is powerful enough to dehumidify your room, and quiet enough that you'll forget it's even there.

Review: Great dehumidifier for tank drainage, plain and simple - I've had one of these for two years now in a 900sqft garden apartment, and it has been doing great and saving me a ridiculous amount of energy and money on AC. I love garden apartments, but in my city they will easily get to 70%RH or more in summer, and even 72F at those levels is uncomfortable, never mind the mold risk and other problems. Central AC isn't made to keep up with that and it's way too expensive to use it to try. This dehumidifier keeps the humidity in my whole apartment at 50-55%, and at those levels I can set my thermostat to 78 during the day and be perfectly comfortable all day long, and my AC almost never runs except when I turn it down to 73 at bedtime. It also has a nice big tank, so instead of emptying daily, I empty every few days before it gets much more than half full, and if I leave for a weekend I know it'll be fine. It's also very easy to clean, which is super important with humidity devices. Every time I empty the tank I put in two drops of dish soap in and wash the inside with a paper towel, and I don't rinse, I just leave the residual soap to kill flies and prevent growth. Every few times I rinse it out and add more soap. And the coarse air filters are easy too, just bang them outside, rinse them, give a hasty dry with the paper towel you're about to use on the tank and they're good to go. No fine air filters, but also no disposable filters to replace. It's not obnoxious even on high, but I have it right next to my dinner table so when I have company I turn it to low and it's easily ignored. This would not be an ideal unit if you know you're going to run a line to drain it, I'd get a more compact one without the huge tank for that. But if you plan to use the tank, it's a no-brainer, buy this dehumidifier. I have no complaints at all.
Review: Tiny But Powerful Dehumidifier - We needed a dehumidifier in our small, 500 square-foot basement. This Midea unit was top rated for small spaces by multiple reliable reviewers, like The Wirecutter. Set up of the unit and its associated smart phone app was easy, and it quickly reduced the humidity levels in our basement to a more comfortable level. The fan is quiet. Since we don't have a drain in our basement floor, we use the Midea bucket to collect the water, which means we have to lift the unit off of its bucket each time we want to draiin the bucket - a bit inconvenient, but by no means a show-stopper. (We use the water from the bucket to water our garden.)

## Features

- 1,500 Sq.Ft. OF COVERAGE - Midea dehumidifier with drain hose is able to collect 20 pint (Similar to 30 PT-2012 DOE) of water a day and adjust humidity from 35% to 85%, perfect for use for basement, bathroom, bedroom, or crawlspace.
- SMALLER FORM, LARGER CAPACITY - Up to 3X larger water tank allows the Midea Cube dehumidifier to operate up to 3X longer than a conventional dehumidifier. You can enjoy more time without the hassle of emptying the water tank. Removable Bucket with 3.2 Gallons/12L bucket size.
- DEHUMIDIFIER WITH DRAIN HOSE allows CONTINUOUS DRAIN OPTION - Versatile, no-bucket option provides more flexibility to remove moisture. You can remove the water tank and place the unit above the sink using the included drain hose, or position it over a floor drain, near a window or door.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Sorry, manufacturer didn't answer this question clearly. Does the unit shut itself off when full, or will it flood my room?**
A: If you have "pump mode" on, it might flood your room. It did for my parents. Pump mode goes off on its own, so you must have it connected to a drain 24/7. On its own because it neither drains fully, nor properly detects the water level.

What happened to my parents was they connected the hoses, turned on pump mode, but it "didn't work". So they waited a few minutes then turned off pump mode so it wouldn't start the minute they walked away. When the bucket got full, they turned on pump mode, stood there for 15+ minutes, then put the hose back. It seemed like manual operation, and after waiting 20 minutes for it to pump out, they forgot to turn it off. Then, in the middle of the night sometime, the pump turned itself on to empty and flooded the floor.

Pump mode is when it thinks the bucket is full. Not when it's necessarily actually full, and pump mode WILL NOT EVER ENGAGE unless it thinks the bucket is completely full. So if your bucket fills in 8 hours and you need to manually move it to a location to turn on the pump before bed so that it doesn't turn off in the middle of the night, you CANNOT have the pump empty the bucket because it will only turn on when 100% full. So you could end up with it turning off in the middle of the night since you can't manually engage the pump. If you choose to manually empty the bucket so that it will run through the night--not an option for my elderly parents, but I empty mine and we have the exact same unit--often the bucket will not reset the water level, so it will turn off when it's "full" when really it only has two inches of water in it.

Make sure you disable pump mode, since the sensor and software are poorly designed and implemented, and it will not engage the pump unless it is at level 4 full or thinks its level 4 full. It will never engage when you set the max fill level below that such as 1 or 2 or 3, will never engage manually when you turn on pump mode, you cannot even manually tell it "I emptied the bucket ahead of time, reset your counter since you use software to assume/count rather than a sensor (which only detects 100% full) which pairs with the software", and if you don't remember to turn off pump mode after you wheeled 60 pounds of water+machinery to a nearby sink and waited 20-40 minutes for it to pump...well,forgetting will leave you flooded.

Midea hasn't QA-tested their products for normal use. Unless we happened to get 2 units with faulty sensors, but I doubt that. I'm 99% sure that they programmed software to assume the fill level, and a sensor only exists if the bucket water level is at the very top, basically a failsafe for the junky software some idiot approved without a manual reset option. What a joke.

### ⭐ Great design but compressor failed in 3 days
*by M***W on May 16, 2026*

I had really high hopes for this thing after seeing it highly recommended by Wirecutter. Their reviews have not steered me wrong in the past. However, the compressor completely died in less than a week. It was functioning quite slowly at first, taking a long time to get humidity down and not really capturing all that much water. After 3 days of intermittent use, the compressor gave up. Humidity was rising in our apartment as it was running. I realized it was blowing cool air and we could no longer hear the buzz of the compressor, so back to Amazon it goes. I was looking forward to the ability to monitor humidity control remotely without having to go look at the unit, but unfortunately the app is not very useful. The first troubles occurred with app linking, where for about an hour it was refusing to connect to my wifi network. Once it did, I realized this was much more a novelty than a helpful feature as the app is full of bugs (recognized as the wrong model and wouldn't display water level estimates, then once I manually changed it, it showed the estimates but still failed to update over time). There were several occassions during the few days which I was using this unit for where I launched the app and their servers appeared to be down. It would not connect to the device. Why even offer this if it's not going to work? It's a shame it's a shoddy piece of equipment. The design is quite clever. However I've switched to another brand's dehumidifier (and a "dumb" one at that with no app to avoid any extraneous tech issues), and within hours of plugging it in, it is FAR more efficient than this unit.
