I scraped it off and stuck it on with some epoxy. That did the trick.You can do that even if you rent. Use a razor blade to remove it and dissolve the epoxy with acetone. Or leave it for the next guy, whatever.The key is not really a key...it's a piece of metal that fits in the 'lock'. Literally anything that fits in there will turn the cylinder. I use a door latch bypass tool. You can probably find a cheaper, less obscure option. Happened to have one handy so my better half stole it. 🤷That being said, this is for keeping kids out. It offers slightly more security than a keep out sign.
